Dell 1737 laptop won't turn on (A/C or battery powered). Last night I tried for 15-20 minutes then it worked. This morning it didn't work again (from stand by mode). I held the power button to shut down...

you have a BIOS bug when hibernation , leave without battery for few days try to turn on with the charger, and if turns on go to the battery settings and disable the hibernation option, later go to dell website and update your system BIOS.

Dell inspiron 1525 won't turn on

Try to take out the battery and just use the adapter to power it on,
If your done with that then try just using the battery to turn it on, if it still won't give a single light.
If you can borrow an ac adapter for that laptop try it ,
If it still doesn't work. You'll need to replace the motherboard. Just make sure the ac adapter your gonna use is working good.

Colored vertical lines on monitor

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

That is usually caused by cheap media. Try a better brand of blank DVD's.

Comp wont turn on

ok, all three lights is a hardware problem - this is usually related to CPU problems in the machine but can also be a sign of MB faults too - first up - remove and replace the ram - both sticks - one under the kb and the one in the bottom cavity too - if this doesnt work - i suggest either taking it in for checkup to a qualified service centre or if your feeling confident then remove the palmrest and heatsink, unlock and reseat the cpu and then try starting again

cheers

Dell E1505 not turning On

Try starting without the battery. If the battery has developed a short or is going bad they are notorious for causing a no start with Dell. If it still won't start, then a memory chip may have gone bad, this also will cause a no start with Dell. Dell's machines will not start with no memory, so check it with at least one memory chip in it. Then lastly, the power management chip on the motherboard. It's rare, but they do go out and without warning. This will have to be checked by a tech.
