Double Images / Shadows on the monitor screen

I have what I would call double images or shadows on the images on my monitor. There is a shadow like image to the left of each image and after sentences / lines of text but not with indidual letters of text.
I sthere any adjustment I can make within windows XP for this problem. This has periodically occured but usually resolved after a restart.I've played with screen resolution but clearly isn't doing it.
I have a Gateway FPD2275W monitor that is LCD and it has the same ghosting image described elsewhere, so I guess it does occur on LCDs

I had/have the same problem with my Gateway 22" monitor less than 6 months after i bought it. I called customer service and they shipped me a new one (i returned the original in the same box) and now less than 6 months it's happening again. having a harder time with customer service this time. I wouldn't recommend these products to anyone.

I am having the same issue with a Dell LCD screen. Shadow on the letters. I am thinking it might be loose connections or bad cables. Any suggestions.

I see double images and shadows and the shadows are outlined in red and green. Is this a "do-it-yourself" fix or does it require a skilled technician?

Sounds like a convergence failure, here is a tutorial I made:

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

'Shadows' behind all texts and images on the screen

LCD Monitor Shadow Effect
This problem is best described as the LCD monitor "Shadow Effect".
The solution to this very simple. No software or hard ware changes required.
The cables that are connected to the LCD monitors are causing the problem. Its also called as electromagnetic noise or electrical noise.
Solution: Keep the two cables - (power cable and moitor display cable), that are connected to the LCD monitor as far away as possible with each other and also away from other electrical cables.
Thats it. Your shadow effect is fixed.
Thank you.

Multi-color double images or shadows and curved screen

Alrighty, very common problem on this set. Here's a rundown of the repair if you're a DYI:

With the back cover off you'll notice a set of boards on the bottom of the TV and a pair of boards sitting up over the two bottom boards. The problem lies in the upper-right hand board which is the color convergence power supply. Either replace or repair this board. The repair involves the main power mosfet (a three legged regulator on a heat sink) and two diodes next to it.

Next, the bottom right hand board needs to be removed and a fuse replaced next to the flyback. If you are versed in electronics I can detail the repair further otherwise you're going to have to have a shop do the repair.

Shadows and text curved. Double images

The convergence IC's need to be replaced. The generic part # on them is STK392-110. This is not easily done by yourself.

53 Hitachi Rear Projection TV with shadows and double images

Does the magic focus work on your set ?

If it doesn't you must replace the convergence Ic's with a kit that is available through your local parts distributor

You must replace all resistors in the kit
If you are not good at soldering and de- soldering have a local tv shop do it for you

Good luck

Double Images / Shadows on the monitor screen

I read through other solutions to this problem because I had the same problem. I checked to make sure electrical cords were properly attached, and vola! problem solved! I had no idea this problem could be fixed just by checking the cord connections. Thanks a million for posting this solution. I had been putting up with the shadowing, streaking for months! You really made my day.
