If you used it alot, i would check it for freon.
checkthe air filter, make sure it's not dirty.
check the front panel, make sure there's no "ice/frost" in the unit.

My frigidaire AC starts cooling fine but stops blowing cold air after few minutes and it does not cool at all. I haved turned it off and re-started it and it does the same thing

The compressor is being prematurely turned off. That explains why the cooling stops after a few moments. Either the thermostat is responsible or the electronics working with the therm are responsible for the anomaly.

Freon level is fine because it does cool when compressor is running. U might also want to check the start/run capacitor. That sucker starts the motor and keeps it running after the start. If the run section goes bad the motor will usually stop after it starts.

The compressor is running but not cooling.

Try the following to begin operating the air conditioner: 1. Plug in the air conditioner. (To prevent electrical hazards, do not use an extension cord or an adapter plug.) 2. Set the exhaust vent to the CLOSED position. 3. Press “On/Off” button to turn unit on. 5. Press Mode “COOL” 6. Press “TEMP/TIME” up or down V to the desired set temperature. Review the “Air Conditioner Features” section for other settings

Frigidaire AC window unit, model fam185r2a (18,500 BTU) only cools for a few minutes before it cycles off and just fan blows. Then a few min later cool air cycles back on. Is this a thermostat issue?

The window units normally have a sensor thats attached to the front of the indoor coil. This controls the thermostat. I usually pull this sensor away from the coil because it stops cooling before the room is cool. It is attached to the cold coil so it senses the coil temp, not the room temp. You can normally see it when you remove the air filter. Don't break it! It may be a wire or small copper tube

Hums and freezes up????

The fan motor must have been stopping. If the fan stops, for sure the fins will freeze because there is no air flowing. common Fan motor problems defective bearing or bushing and starting condenser. If the bearing is defective, it will heat up and seize. Have the fan motor checked. The fact that the fins are freezing, means that there is enough freon and the compressor is working.
