Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

You probably need to move the small switch on the memory card to the open position.

I bought my camera 4 years ago but till now still i cannot get a picture of me in my canon power shot A410, the problem is i dont know the steps in setting timer to get me a picture. can you please teach...

Press the FUNC/SET button. Use the cursor keys to select Drive Mode. Use left/right to select the desired delay and press FUNC/SET. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.

Full details are in the "Using the Self-Timer" section of the advanced guide. (page 35 in my copy). If you need any of the manuals, you can download them from the manufacturer's web site at

No longer shows scene on the LCD screen

Hi

Your camera has a defective CCD and the only way to fix it is to replace the CCD or the complete lens with a new one.

Try the Canon website here for information: canon.com.ua

Date/TIme Screen ALWAYS appears when camera turned on.

You need to replace the lithium date/time battery. It is a CR1220 coin cell and it's replacement can be done using the instructions on page 109 of the advanced guide. If you don't have a copy you can get one here:

Hope this helps, if it does please rate my solution.

Black pictures when using flash

The black images with flash mean that the Iris mechanism in the lens is not working properly, and that needs a professional camera repair service.

Blank black screen for my canon powershot S1 IS digital camera

This is a common problem with S1 IS and it is caused by faulty CCD sensor. Note that you can playback captured images without any problem but in capture mode all you get is blank screen. Will have to go to Canon but note that Canon repairs these models free of charge when it is the CCD sensor that stops working.
