White film on all the dishes and inside the dishwasher

We have just bought this dishwasher and all my dishes have a white film on them. As well the stainless steel inside is starting to look terrible with white streaks everywhere. I have used 4 different detergents and nothing seems to work, Please help We have a white film not only on the dishes but the inside of the dish washer as well we use the dish soap recommended as well as the rinse guard and still no changes to our problem.
Please advise as we bought the item as it was a top of the line recommendation to dishwashers.

I too just replaced my 25 year old Kitchenaid dishwasher with a new one (model KUDO02FRSS2) and I hate it! It too leaves a white film on everything. At one point the dishwasher was coated with a thick white substance. The repairman had to use an entire bottle of my vinegar with two cycles to get rid of it. Even after servicing, the dishes come out dirtier than when they go in and I must now hand wash everything. I have had service out three times. I have tried five different detergents and three rinse aids. I have tried very small amounts of detergent and all the cycles. I have a very high quality water softener and my old Kitchenaid cleaned dishes beautifully. Each service person has a different suggestion and the next guy tells me the previous one had it all wrong. After reading all of the comments in your replies, I am printing them out to show them when they come again next week. I am going to have them check the drain valve and perhaps suggest they try reinstalling the entire machine. I just can't believe how poorly this very expensive machine works. If I have to now use an additional product such as "Glass Magic" I think the consumer should be aware of this prior to making the purchase. As stated above, my old Kitchenaid worked just fine with any type of detergent!

The stainless steel door panel and the inside walls are turning brown and there is a brown hue to some of white dishes after the cycle is complete.

I had the same problem. Only thing that worked for me was adding Glass Magic. No more white film for me.

I too have the same problem and adding Glass Magic does the trick BUT Glass Magic is expensive and my local grocers don't carry it any more. Why, oh why, did I get a new KitchenAid?

I had that too but seem to have gotten it 'mostly' under control. I checked my water hardness and it was high but in the normal range. I think they recommend doing this and you can order a test strip from the manual.

But what I think has helped the most is making sure the water is hot. It takes a solid minute for hot water to reach my kitchen, so when the dishwasher is filling its often not hot enough. If I run my water to hot in the sink, then turn on the dishwasher then I know I'm getting hot water. I also measured my water temp and it was cooler than recommended. I kicked it up a bit on my water heater.

Between the two things seems better.

SOURCE: white film on all the dishes and inside the dishwasher

I found that my dishwasher was leaving a white film on my dishes. It was resolved very simply - I hadn't tightened the cap for the salt chamber and so salt was leaking into the machine.
