The red "stand by" light is on. When I press the power button (either on the tv or on the reomote) the green light flashes (usually twice, sometimes multiple times) and then the red "stand by" light comes back on.
I have tried removing the AC power, even over night, and no change.
I'm having the exact same problem with the same TV. The manufacturer is no help. Even though I have a receipt, they refuse to do any work without the serial number which apparently was on a sticker that is no longer on the tv. When I asked them where else the serial number could be (inside a panel etc..) they said that they didn't know & that it was my tough luck that the serial number sticker is missing.I'm having the exact same problem with the same TV. I hate this tv, I got it from Kmart less than a year ago, and within 5 or 6 months the tv just starting doing the cut off and on thing, some times it will stay on all night, then maybe for a few hours or mins. One time i went online and got some codes. It worked when i try it with the remote control. I think that the tv and the directv box has cross signals or something like that. Do you have any trouble shooting codes that I can use.?
Sometimes that works if I can get it on this time I will never cut it off.

Add another set to the list of "it will no longer turn on". It will turn green for a second, then go back to the red standby. I even unplugged it for a week to no avail...Add another set to the list of "it will no longer turn on". It will turn green for a second, then go back to the red standby. The problem is the digital main board if you can get ashop to order it for you its easy to replace yourself four screws and three or four plug in connectors.

Hello Jeff;
If the TV does not turn on or off, does not respond to the remote
control or the control panel buttons, or has audio but no video:
1.) Press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds. The TV will turn off.
2.) Power on the TV and the green LED will flash quickly for about one minute. The changes you made most recently, before using SYSTEM RESET, may be lost.
If the TV does not respond to the remote control or to the control-panel buttons and TV will not power on or off.
• Unplug the AC power cord for 10 seconds.
• Press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for 10
seconds to perform a system reset.
If the TV turned itself off and the light on the front panel started to flash:
• Momentary power fluctuation can cause the TV to turn off to prevent damage. Wait for the green light to stop flashing and turn the TV on again.
• If the TV does not stay on, press the POWER button on the
control panel for ten seconds to perform a System Reset. If this happens frequently, obtain an AC line power conditioner/surge protector.
• An unusual digital signal may have been received, triggering a
protection circuit. Wait for the light to stop flashing and turn TV
on.
If the TV will not power off, press the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds to perform a System Reset.

I would not recommend using compressed air or any other method that would blow dust around- since the dust could make its way into the set's circuitry via the grille or vents and cause problems. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment instead.
ok, this may be a silly question but when you turn it on and it starts flashing red, have you tried pressing the stand-by button on the remote. if a tv has been put on stand-by by the remote, and is then switched off by the set, when the set is turned back on it is still in stand-by mode and you need to press the stand-by button on the remote. other than that I don't know.
it is maybe power supply is damage, please
check the fuse of power supply,if it is fuse is damage, you can change it.if fuse is ok,you can change power supply boards.when you find which boards is defective, you can
search by pcb number on www.wisiny.com
