My tv screen has changed from full to wide screen. The words on the screen are fading off on the side. It has never done this. I have had this tv since 2002. I have been trying to find information about this, nothing is on the internet.
Same problem... Screen picture went real skinny for a couple of seconds and then went super wide. Now words and channel numbers, et cetera are "off screen" as if one has zoomed in on the picture. Haven't a clue how to solve this problem. Also have had this tv since '02. (Current date: 13 Sep 08)

Try to look at the rear side of your unit if there are manual switches there to restore you view to normal settings. if none, refer the issue to a qualified repairman.

Vizio has a set of buttons on the left side where you can access your settings and change the aspect ratio of your TV. Though why you want it changed is beyond me. Wide screen is for 16:9 aspect ratios. At 4:3 (Standard) you won't be using your full TV picture.
Sounds like the power supply has filtering issues, in other words bad capacitors. its best to have a tv shop take a look at it. they shouldn't charge you. good luck
this thing happened in my laptop also i got green screen fully then when i hit it behind the screen it was gone but comes many times then again i would hit later on the screen was completly lost then had to replace the screen yous is a starting period so go to a nearby computer service and fix the screen
this is normal and this feature is for wide screen programs! normal shows and games will lose part of the top of the screen sides and bottem because it zooms in on whats in the middle of screen! hope this helps
to wide to read ? i think u can adjust the horizontal or im buying proscans im trying to figure out what you mean does the print fade from side to side or ?
This sounds to me like the parameters are off, I recomend only a service tech adjust this for you because the parameters can only be accessed by a service man, and they are critical, if done wrong the whole set can go out of wack.
