The lightning bolt is the fill-flash symbol. Red-eye reduction is the eyeball symbol. Flash off is the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it. There's also an auto flash mode, represented by a lightning bolt with the letter "A".

Repeatedly press the flash button on the top of the camera to cycle through the flash modes.

New memory card 4gb will not format in the kodak easy share c533 camera

The C533 works with MMC and SD cards. Your new 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it will fit into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

HELLO :0) It (my Kodak Easy Share C533) will not come on. The camera just sends me red flashes of light 2 (x2) quick flashes and then 4 slower flashes... then shuts off. The lens never comes forward......

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

I have loved this camera but everytime I take a flash picture it causes the subjects to close their eyes. I've never had this problem with other cameras. Is the flash not timed properly or is it too...

Are you using the red-eye setting? An initial flash causes the pupils of your subjects to contract, followed by a second full flash 1 second later.

The trouble is that the first flash is bright, and subjects think its all over so they blink, rub their eyes, look away, and even the photographer may be pointing the camera elesewhere by then.

It is better not to use that setting, and fix the red eye afterwards.
With the flash open, hit the right button until the eye icon goes away.

Red flashing eye

The flashing eye indicates that the red eye minimizer feature is enabled. My NV 10 has buttons on the back that line up with features on the screen. Try to find the one that looks like an eye. That option is often times tied to the flash feature. The flash may be able to be turned on with the same button.

Red eye

Open your camera as if you were going to take a photo, if you look at the 4 arrows, you'll see one next to it with a lightening bolt next to it. If you press it twice a little symbol should come up which looks like an eye and this is the setting to get rid of 'red-eye'. This button controls the falsh, click it once for auto, twice for red eye, 3 times for flash on and 4 times for flash off :) Hope that helps
