I had a similar issue with my fans. The fix I came up with was my remote was faulty. An easy fix because I had 2 fans with the same remote.

The remote for the ceiling fan has 4 switches inside the battery compartment- look there. I had the same problem, turns out that when I replaced the battery one of the switches was inverted by mistake. Now it looks like 1 and 2 on, 3 and 4 off - and everything works.

Hampton Bay ceiling fan quit working. No lights, no fan operation at any setting. Replaced remote battery and checked dip switches for correct position. Wall switch is on and has power through it (c

IIt sounds like there is not power to it, so it could be a loose wire nut on the "hot" side of the circuit inside the fan junction box. That's going to be a pain to get to. If you have power there and the connection is faulty, that's the problem. If you have power there and the connections are good it should operate manually without the remote. If not, I would suspect the fan is DOA.

Can a remote control be installed on the Huntington III?

Yes you can operate them with two styles of remotes: either the remote wall switch, or a hand held remote. Both require the receiver to be mounted above the top of the fan in the base it is wired to. The receiver has wires on both sides; the one side wires directly to the house wires, and the other goes to the fan and light. They are both sold at Home Depot and Lowes. The ones at Home Depot also include the set made by the fan manufacturer.

Not sure if this is the exact ceiling fan/ light kit we have... but looks similar.

Turned out that it was the dimmer switch that had shorted out.

My hubby figured it out, and replaced it.

Ceiling fan

The reverse switch is always located on the fan housing itself.  You cannot reverse using the remote.  Look for a black slide switch, probably located on the top surface of the fan housing so you cannot see it easily without a ladder.
