"Wrong Disc" I have a Coby TF-DVD7100 and when i put a dvd in it says wrong disc. my portable still played the disc but got 'shhrr' sound...the it'll appear 'wrong disc'. please,how to overcome it...??

pls. open disc cover and clear the lance .
after clenig lance "NO DISC" then check lance cabel is chenged.
and check the Caption moter freely moving. if not freely then replace the caption moter .
if not solve this problum then replce with NEW LANCE.

when it says wrong disc, optical pickup assy needs to be replaced J.D.W.

I too do not understand how to check the motor or change the wire

Its defective. Coby doesn't repair the units. The lense is off balance which is causing the laser to not read the dvd/cd.

I have seen this problem on several Yamada & Xoro brand DVD players. If you remove the lid after powering down with the disc tray closed and a disc in it you may well find the ribbon cable to the read head is rubbing on the disc. The ribbon cable is held to the base of the box by a sticky pad under a 45 degree bend in it and a piece of sticky tape !!!. Power up unit, open disk tray, power it down, retape cable to base securely with small strips of duct or gaffer tape (using tweezers helps) and hey presto it will work again. The cable rubbing slows the disk spin speed hence "data read error" unit assumes "bad/faulty/wrong type of disk". All that technology screwed up by using a cheap bit of tape in the factory assembly, amazing eh !.
