All of my wireless entries just stopped working - the handheld remote, the external keypad, and the programmed button in my car. The wall control (hardwired) works fine. It's like the wireless reception is bad/not working on the opener. The batteries in the remotes are fine; I re-programmed the car button, and it works sometimes, and if it's held down for about 10-15 seconds. The car was parked in the garage, right under the opener. Any ideas??? I'm baffled and would appreciate assistance.

I have a craftsman garage door opener, of which I tried to program a new remote. but it did not program. in the event I accidently errased my keypad password. How can I reprogram the keypad, i cannot...

Hello there,
It actually depends on what you are trying to program. And these instructions apply only to openers that do not have dip switches on them.
Remotes: push don't hold the colored learn code button all models have different colors. After pushing the button hold the remote behind your back and push it three times. On the third time the door should run.
Keyless Entry: Program the code you want into the keyless. Push the colored learn code button and then enter the code and push enter three times slowly. on the third time the door should run.
Home-Link. Hold the two outer buttons until the blinking pattern changes. Then hold the button you wish to program and point and click your remote at it. Push the colored learn code button and push the homelink button three times.
There are two models of the Wireless Keyless Entry System, the 740CB and the 940CB. The 940CB is for use only with Security+® garage door openers having an orange/red smart/learn button. The 740CB will work with all openers manufactured since 1990 that have a yellow, white, gray, or green smart/learn button. It will not work with Security+® openers.
To program the keyless entry, first locate the smart/learn button. On our chain drive models, this button is on the end farthest from the door. On our belt and screw drive models, it is on the right side as you face the door from the opener. You simply press and release the smart/learn button. You now have 30 seconds to enter your four digit PIN number into the keypad and hold the enter button for five seconds. Wait one minute and test the keyless entry by entering your four-digit PIN number and pressing enter.
With some Security+® models, you can also program your Model 940CB Wireless Keyless Entry without climbing a ladder, right from your Multi-Function Control Panel. Simply enter your pre-selected code and press and hold the enter button on your Keyless Entry. Then press and hold the light button and the pushbutton on your Multi-Function Control Panel. The garage door opener lights will flash to confirm that the Keyless Entry has been successfully programmed.
Hope this helped you solve the problem. All the best my dear friend. Elect_Comp

I have a 3/4 hp model 139.53990D from sears. My reomtes have quit opening the door. they will close it. The light on the control console blinks very lightly, not like when the lock is set. Door works...

The symptoms you give are exactly the way it is when the lock function is used. The wall control and the keypad will work but not the hand remotes. If holding the lock button for 3 seconds doesn't change it you should hold in the smart/learn button for 6 seconds. This will erase all remotes from memory and only the wall control will work. Now program it for the remotes and the keypad.

My wireless keypad stopped working. I replaced the battery. It worked 1x and hasn't worked since. I'm able to program remotes. The keypad is backlit and flashes when I enter the code or try to program it....

I would make sure the battery contacts are clean and not corroded. Otherwise a new keypad is most likely the answer. Just FYI the keypad will still work when the wall control is locked.

Just to satisfy me would you try your original handheld remote once to make sure it is working properly. The wall control is hardwired so it is not a question.

Garage door opener

I was having a problem with the remotes. Program one remote, and the other stops working and vice-versa. I found the solution to be as follows: Using 61LM single-button remotes for Lift-master WhisperDrive (belt drive) garage door opener, I set the dipswitches (find them by removing battery replacement cover) to identical settings in both remotes. Set the first dipswitch to the neutral (0) setting. Next -- and this is the important part -- press the learn button on the main door opening unit, and, while the small LED light is lit, press the button on ONE of the remotes. DO NOT REPEAT ON THE SECOND REMOTE. Upon doing this, I found that BOTH remotes at last worked. I then went on to program a keyless entry pad, which was accomplished by again pressing the learn button on the main unit, and then entering the number sequence I had chosen for my entry code on the keypad, and pressing Enter. Both remotes continued to function and the keypad functions as well.
