Delta & Single Handle Shower Faucet Logo

Plumber installed a delta multichoice valve trim 17 two years ago. The water temperature knob is getting harder to turn again. It happened a year ago too and the plumber put in a new cartirdge saying that the bldg.'s water shut-offs may be causing the problem. Installation incorrect? Buy a different type of valve trim which does not freeze with water-shut offs? Please advise.

Not all that familiar with your particular faucet. but in my experience, most plumbers dont put grease on the valves when installing them . the factory just uses enough grease to get the valve in the faucet. if you have extremely hot water and use it . it wont take to long for it to cause this problem.. just an opinion. i cant imagine how the buildings shutoff could have anything to do with your problem.

Brand new delta single handle shower valve won't shut off

If your new Delta single handle shower valve won't shut off, it could be due to an issue with the valve itself or with the installation. Some possible causes include a misaligned handle, debris in the valve body, or a faulty cartridge. It is best to check the installation instructions and ensure that everything is properly seated and aligned. If that does not solve the issue, you may need to contact Delta customer service for further assistance or consider hiring a plumber to diagnose and fix the problem.

I haven't had a lot of experience with Grohe brand but have had twenty eight years as plumber, 22 years as master plumber and the bottom port of every tub or tub/shower valve that I installed used the bottom as main supply port. As far as the instructions from manufacture like I said I have not used that particular brand much,so I really couldn't say. Hope this helps some. Thanks

Install trim and adjust the thermostat on a Grohe shower faucet

Before you install the temperature control knob, adjust the valve body (47111) with a wrench to set the temperature to "100 degree or close to it". Now, place the limit ring to tdc (top dead center) and control knob with the red 100-degree align to it. Your problem may have been the valve's temperature setting is out range when you installing the temperature control knob.

How to install Delta T17030 Innovations Collection Single Handle Tub/Shower Trim Chrome by my self

http://www.deltafaucet.com/media/Product_Tech_Docs/Maint_Installation/50001to80000/51975RevE_13943.pdf

New Install:

1. Shut off the water.
2. Remove Plastic rough-in spacer. It's black and it's only there for roughing in, and so the tilers don't come too close.
3. Unscrew silver retaining nut - should only be hand tight. Remove and discard grey cap that was being held is place by nut. Remove and discard plastic stopper inside faucet.
4. Take grey plastic disk off of cartridge and DO NOT THROW AWAY. Adjust gearing/splines to hottest temp by rotating plastic insert. Reinstall plastic disk.
5. Install cartridge with HOT lettering to LEFT. Secure with Silver Nut.
6. Slide large O-Ring over silver nut.
7. Install trim plate using long phillips(star) screws provided (2)
8. Slide Plastic spacer (looks like a snowflake) into chrome trim (cylinder) and slide cylinder over Silver Nut.
9. Install handle by tightening allen screw until it engages firmly with cartridge.

Changing Existing Trim:

As Above Except Old Trim Must Be Removed First. Cartridges Are Specific To Certain Trims. Even More So If Installation Is Over 3 Years Old. 3 Years Ago, Delta Went To The "Universal Rough-In" Which Made Things A Little Easier Because The Appropriate Cartidge Now Comes With The Appropriate Trim.
