Sony Handycam DCR-TRV350 Digital Camcorder Logo

PLEASE HELP! -- I have now bought 2 Sony DCR-TRV350's. One, I bought originally in 2003 and has worked like a charm up until a few months ago. I have a bunch of old tapes that I never got around to converting, so I bought a used one (same model) Both times I have placed my tapes in the camera and at first both cameras worked fine, but after a few tapes had been entered - all hell broke loose! I put the tapes in the trap - the trap either gets stuck half way down or goes all the way down and pulls out the tape from the cassette. All of these have popped up C:32:11 C:31:40 C:31:42 Can anyone help me!?

Found this post re: Sony C:31 errors
http://www.camerahacker.com/Forums/DisplayComments.php?file=Video%20Camera/Sony/Sony_DCR-TRV18_-_Error_Code.
In a nutshell: - Remove tape and close door - Remove all power supplies (battery and AC) - Smack the bottom of the camera hard with your palm - Reattach power supply, insert tape and try again
This solution has worked for me, but problem usually reappears after a few uses.

Hi Jeany,
Please see the detail below for the said error codes C31:23 & C31:22

According to the symptom and self diagnostic system the problem is in mechanical section (tape loading section) Therefore camera just need mechanical adjustment and will work fine again. This problem aries when the insertion of the cassette is improper or forced insertion.
Thanks for using fixya.

DCR-TRV350 Sony Handycam won't load pictures to Vista

You need to purchase a video editing software program. If you have a usb or dv port on your computer you will need a firewire card on your computer or a spare usb port.

Pinnacle Studio will work with Vista. Once the software is installed and the camera is tuned on, A dialog box will appear asking to run Pinnacle Studio. Go into capture mode to copy the video to your hard drive.

I have a Sony Handycam® DCR-TRV350 Digital-8 Digital Camcorder.

did the sony come with any editing software?

If not, then you will have to get some editing software for your computer. Then you hook the camera up to your computer and you can actually control the camera from the software. This will allow you to fast forward, rewind and digitize the video footage to your computer.

hope this helps
