Its because you have the camera set to store the video in the internal memory not the SD card you have to change the settings so it will save into the SD card instead of the internal memory

Card error 8GB how do I fix it

The A820 works with SD cards, which are limited to 2GB in size. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

How do i get an 8gb sd card to work in my vivitar dvr-530 cam corcoder?

The DVR-530 works with SD cards, which max out at 2GB. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC, not an SD card. While SDHC cards fits into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in this camcorder. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but that's the way this camera works.

VIVITAR VIVICAM 4090 PURCHASED FROM SHOPPING CHANNEL IT SAYS IN MANUEL UP TO 2GB . ON THE BOX THERE IS A STICKER SAYING USE UP TO 2GB BUT UNDER STICKER IT SAYS UP TO 8GB . CAN I USE A BIGGER GB OTHER...

The box may say you can use a card up to 8GB but since it can only use SD cards (not SDHC), the box seems to be in conflict with reality. Besides, the camera is only a 4 megapixel camera so you will be able to take hundreds of pictures with a 2GB card.

Camera wont recognize 8GB mem card.

The SD600 works with MMC and SD cards. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use cards 2GB and smaller with this camera.

Could be the camera does not support the card. Your card specs: SD Card (up to 2GB guaranteed) SDHC (up to 8GB guaranteed. Try a card 8GB or less.

I have a Nikon S6000. I recently bought a card for it at a Big Lots store. Here is what is on the front of the card: "PNY Optima SD HC 120 min HD 8GB." The problem is that the card will not come...

"SD" cards larger than about 2GB are actually SDHC cards. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but they are slightly different electrically. Many cameras won't work with SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

It sounds like your camera is able to understand SDHC, but your card reader is not. It won't cost much to buy a new card reader, but make sure the specs mention SDHC.

Why can't I get pictures off of an 8gb but I can off of a 2gb chip?

Some cameras cant manage/format large size memory cards as they where not made to handle that size. Check your user manual which should tell you the maximum size memory card your camera will take.

I bough a sandisk sdhc 8gb card for my samsung s1030 and it comes up on the scren memory full. Can resolve this problem please.

I hate to say this but, your camera will only handle up to 2GB MMC\SD of external storage. This unit has 45MB built in as well but the two do not combine. The Camera is is simply not capable of using an 8GB SDHC memory card. Drop back to a regular 2GB SD card and you'll be fine.

Sorry bud, it's not a HD camera but, it is a nice camera! have fun with it!!!

Hope this answered your question.

If it says up to 8gb on your vivitar instructions what does that mean

It means that memory cards of sizes up to 8GB will work with this camera. 8GB, 4GB, 2GB, 1GB, 512MB, etc. Such cards will work. 16GB and 32GB cards will not work.
