What is the possible defect of sanyo tv,standby power only

When in the standby mode the 3 or 5 volt standby voltage is present for the main cpu IC to "wake up" the power supply, and put it to work, this is a signal that is introduced to the power supply when the on button is pressed, or a command from the remote, also if some components are defective and drawing to much current it won't come out of standby as well, this will require some electrical engineering skills to troubleshoot the amp, I suggest you take it somewhere to have it serviced unless you have the knowledge and test gear to fix it yourself.

there is a possibility that the power switch capacitor has bubbled or leaked a remedy is to unplug the unit from the outlet for at least an hour then try to power it back on.

open your TV unit check possible loose contact. check defective parts to the power supply shorted regulator, blown fuse, open resistor and leak capacitor replace same ratings.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.

If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need a power supply module. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher. I would not suggest or recommend trying to repair the TV yourself.

Look for the manuals

Even with the set turned off, there is a portion that is on all the time. This is the standby circuit. It powers the onboard CPU and allows the remote to work. The main power supply for this section usually has a fuse. Check for that first. If that is OK, then the stnadby trnasformer may be defective. This is a small transformer located close to the power cord connection. Figure on $20 for the part.
