When i connect my dell inspiron laptop to my lg 42 lcd tv it keeps saying on the tv invalid format this should be a plug and play but it does not work and im clueless how to get the format the same any help
Go into your control panel. Select display. There will be a picture showing 2 screens. Select the 2nd screen, and lower resolution to it's minimum. Apply and test. Slowly increase till you find what your happiest with. Worked for me using a ASUS laptop and LG60'plasma.
Set pc resolution to 1024 x 768 can work
Here's what worked for me with my Dell laptop and LG 37" tv: go into the display properties of your computer graphic card by right-clicking on the desktop. Make sure you've got it set up for dual display with the laptop as the primary and the monitor (your tv) as the secondary display. Then go into the display properties for the monitor and make sure that it's set to display full screen instead of maintain aspect ratio, then apply the setting.
I think this problem is because we cant set to the display size the tv
needs... 640x350/ 720x400 in my case... sorry no solution but may help
