Go into your control panel. Select display. There will be a picture showing 2 screens. Select the 2nd screen, and lower resolution to it's minimum. Apply and test. Slowly increase till you find what your happiest with. Worked for me using a ASUS laptop and LG60'plasma.

Here's what worked for me with my Dell laptop and LG 37" tv: go into the display properties of your computer graphic card by right-clicking on the desktop. Make sure you've got it set up for dual display with the laptop as the primary and the monitor (your tv) as the secondary display. Then go into the display properties for the monitor and make sure that it's set to display full screen instead of maintain aspect ratio, then apply the setting.

Hooking laptop to tv says invalid format on my

After it is all hooked up. You must go to main computer screen, then right-click on main windows screen,
You will see box #1 and box#2
Take the #2 box, click and hold mouse button and drag to the Left Side of #1 and let go of mouse. Get it as closely matched up to the #1 box without crisscrossing them. Just set it directly next to the box.
Then click enable this monitor and/or apply button.
Then ok,
Now your monitiors should all automatically connect and turn on.

Connecting laptop to lcd

You may need to use the S-video cable for video. Make sure video mirroring is disabled on the powerbook. Also, make the external monitor the primary display by dragging the menu bar to it in Displays preferences (Mac OS X) or the Monitors control panel (Mac OS 8 and 9).

Dell Inspiron 6000 to TV

On a dell laptop, the key combo FN  F8 cycles through the display options. Laptop screen, External screen, Laptop and External screen at the same time.  Try pressing the FN F8 key to get the video to display on both laptop and lcd and the same time.  If that doesn't work you can also change the settings on what the laptop does when the lid is closed.  Check the power settings in the control panel.
