Basically i got a amp and a sub the other day and fitted it in my car. everything was working, but i notcied little sparks from the wires at the back of the amp (when you moved it abotu) because it would sometimes touch each other (the red wire and the black wire) the subwoofer used to go out randomly sometimes and come back. anyway today the subwoofer stopped working altogether but theres still power in the amp because the green light comes on which means the amps ON, but still nothing comes from the sub. I checked all the wiring and it looks correct. from grouding, to remote cable... everything seems in order. anyone know whats wrong? I have 2 12s in my car (07 suzuki sx4) well one went out when i was bridging them it just wouldn't come back on (my fav. box/speaker too I made it myself.:-)..) well then my only 12 left would go out some, usually due to the ground was lose.. I've checked all the wiring fuses and ground shows nothing wrong. amp is getting power but sub isn't working. My fiance does the work must the time, but he in out of town. I'm lost on what do to now. (I know how to wire and car stuff even tho i'm a girl so don't try that comment lol I've done my strobes, neons fog lights all that) any suggestions thanks!!
I would say that you blew a capasitor on the out take of the amp. All the green light means on the amp is that you are getting power to it, not that it is working properly. If this is the problem it is because you probally tried to bridge a non bridgeable amp. This problem occurs when an amp is not ready to take the 1 or 2 Ohms that come back through it and it blows this little ***** capasitor inside rather than frying the amp, again if this is the case you should be able to open it up and see the one that you have blow. If this is the case get a sodering gun and take the capasitor out, but make sure you mark the - side so that you will know which side to put where (it will be the side with a different color line on it). after that take the piece out to a radio shack or another electronics store and tell them you need that exact piece. After that just soder it back in and see if it works, if it does great if not ..... it is like a $1 part and you can't break something that is already broke. oh and if it does work .... don't bridge it again XD
