Your ac adapter is just a charger to charge the laptop and it does not have anything to do with 3rd party battery. You need genuine battery to make it work. Third party batteries generally lack the logic circuit that completes the battery sensor circuit - the only solution is a Dell battery. If they are claiming it will work than they need to help you or refund your money. Hope this helps.
try this: remove battery unplug power adapter from the laptop hold power button down for ten seconds this will drain the laptop power completely. place battery back in and plug power adapter back in. Now turn your laptop back on. let it start normally if you using Windows XP go to start button then control panel then power options and in the power meter tab see the computer sees your battery. check to see if battery light is on.
Some non-Dell batteries will cause the led to flash. There are some aftermarket batteries that have circuitry which 'fools the laptop' and prevents the flashing. As long as the battery is working there's nothing to worry about.
Have u checked with new battery?,if the same problem persist still means, like smbs in desktop there is a circuit inside laptop which regulates and balace power from battery and power card, so better take it to expert sevice station.
It won't charge or work correctly if it's not the correct one and of the right voltage etc.I don't know how the battery even went in if it's not the Dell specified battery. If it went in and looked to fit maybe the battery itself is bad but its hard to say.
Since the system is not seeing the batteries the apparent fault is the motherboard connection for the battery. If under warranty , contact Dell, in not, you can try and purchase a replacement motherboard on EBay.
If your old battery was doing the same (not charging), then is is because the charger is not charging the battery. Do you have a friend with a Dell laptop? Maybe you can use a borrowed charger to test and see if it will charge the batteries. To answer your question , no Dell does not have anything built in to prevent you from using a 3rd party battery. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
It is normal for a battery to degrade after a year since its a consumable part. It's just like any ordinary rechargeable battery. We have 2 points of failure that might be causing the problem. First the battery itself. Second the Charge board that charges and detects the battery. Given that the NON-DELL battery is working on other dell Computer, it simply tells us that it is the charge board that needs to be replaced wich is integrated to the motherboard. If your warranty is still active, call dell and tell them that you've tried a Known good battery and its still not charging. However, you might also consider that dell computers are designed for dell batteries. the charge board might have problems charging the third party battery since its not configured to do so.
