Please check using another display and if the fault seems to be the same then it is possible that the RAM , the back up battery or the mother board is faulty.
check the back up battery and if low replace, test the RAM on another PC which finally concludes that the mother board is a suspect.
Connect the laptop to an external monitor to confirm that the system is worrking in perfect condition. If so then there is a possiblity that the LCD display is at fault.
1. Check using the external monitor for any errrors in the display drive. if so reinstall.
2. If not, there could be a possible break in the lines that go through the hinges. check the continuity of the connection from the mother board.
3. possible failure of the mother board/display drive. This might be expensive and so take help.
