I have had my Timex about 12 months and it has started losing about 15 minutes out of 24 hours. Could it be the battery? If not how do I fix the problem?

Sounds like a classic battery issue.

I suggest taking the watch into your local watch/ jewelry repair and have them replace the battery and test it. If it isn't the battery they should be able to tell you why you are losing so much time.
