I have a ZANUSSI ZMC30STQX just over a year old been using the microwave with no problems. Put the oven bit of it on for the first time and it started to warm up but within a few minutes tripped the RCD in the consumer unit. when i reset the RCD and turn the microwave on it trips out again. I've changed the fuse and thats made no difference. Any suggestions?

If it goes dead or blows the breaker when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. Other times, it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount.

Can't get in to change the bulb

You normally have to remove the outside cover to access the bulb. once you have the cover off you will see the bulb to be able to change it.
Make sure that the oven has been unplugged for a few hours before opening the covers.

Bulb blown. How do I change it?

Hello there :
first you will need to remove all of the screws off the back edges and the sides next turn over the microwave over and there will be 6 or 8 screws that are on the bottom edges remove them now turn over the microwave and using a flat tip screwdriver look at the seam and you can use the screwdriver to get the cover to start moving towards the back andd then once it is loose it will lift off
Now you will see the bulb towards the fromnt of the microwave simply replace the bulb and test it the microwave if it works reassemble the microwave and you are done ok ?
I hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael

Microwave oven turns off

Many over-the-range microwave ovens suffer from intermittent problems caused by excessive moisture from the range/stove entering the microwave cabinet and collecting on the circuitry. Often the problem is with one or two simple connections that may need tightening or soldering. But, to repair these components, the microwave cabinet needs to be opened. So we recommend that you seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

It may be worth getting it repaired. Shop around for prices and see if it is worth your while to repair it or simply buy a new one :)

INTERNAL LIGHT

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, and a special driver (such as a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Kenmore microhood

Since your circuit breaker is blowing instead of the fuse, the odds are that you have a door switch, door switch mount or door hinge alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can probably find exploded views and order parts by entering your model number here at the Sears parts site.

There is also a chance that the high voltage capacitor is shorted.

Here is a link you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:
