By echo blower will not run unless the choke is on even after is warmed up. In other words, when I turn the choke off, the engine will begin to cut off. Thus, I'm not able to get the full benefit of the blower.

Hello,
My name is Dane and I am going to assist you in solving your problem.

Make sure the fuel is mixed correctly. Too much oil in the mix will cause problems.

If you are still having problems, you will need to adjust the high-speed mixture setting on your Carburetor jet. Turning the screw out just 1/2 turn or so should do the trick. It is not so hard to adjust the Carburetor, however you do need a special tool that is very hard to get your hands on, in order to adjust the jet screws. They don't make many engines with plain screw heads anymore. The newer Carburetors are factory set lean so they can pass emission standards. If you have a local dealer, they should adjust the mixture for a couple of bucks. Before you take it in to the shop, make sure you haven't left old fuel in it for a long period of time and gummed those jets up. Sometimes an engine just needs to run in order to clean the jets out. If this is the case, just replace the fuel and get it running and work it normal for a tank of fuel if you can.

Just a TIP: Always mix your fuel with an approved fuel stabilizer. Fuel begins to go bad after a few months and that's why many people have fuel problems in the spring.

I hope I've helped. If you found this reply useful, please leave me some THUMBS UP, if you feel I

Fuel, fire, air. That's what makes it all work. So all we need to do is converge on the problem.

Generally, if it runs and dies...ITS A FUEL STARVATION PROBLEM.

Only a couple of issues there...
-too much air
-insufffient fuel.

that's the interesting diagnostic part...is that the machine works on a balance (lets ignore 'fire' because we just agreed we had ignition and can focus on fuel/air).

insuffient fuel -- 1. carb has buildup of petroleum (ie: varnish) in 1mm holes [shame on you...you didn't maintain. winterize or add seafoam or marv marvelous oil peridodically or add stabalizer whenver you use it]).
to fix:
either disassemble and clean with carb cleaner, maybe buy overhaul kit for 50% of carb value, or buy a new one.

too much air ... we have an air intake leak on the carb causing TOO much air....ergo...lean. it'll run HOT ! and could die because its too hot. fix lean condition noted above OR close up air intake...like the gaskets.

Now....onto Virgin Galactic rocket scientry.......

or clean fuel filter or drain fuel..bad mix, drain fuel..water in it.

I have an older craftsman snow blower 10 hp. It starts ok with full choke, runs ok half choke, backfires with no choke-run position.

It's too lean; not enough fuel mixed with the air. Look for the main mixture screw--it should be a large screw with a spring under it on the carburetor. Run the engine until it's warm.

With the engine running, turn the screw outward (lefty-loosey) about 1/8 turn slowly and see if it improves. Slowly turn the screw back and forth until it runs best with the choke completely off. Then set it 1/8 turn richer (turn screw outward 1/8 turn) than the best position.

Reason for doing this: Conditions change, even the barometric pressure. Small engines run okay if they are a little rich but not if they are a little lean.

How to start Echo ppt-266

Fill with correct fuel/oil mix. turn switch to I. Pump primer bulb 4-5 times. Turn choke on. Pull starter until engine fires. Turn choke off. Pull Starter until engine runs & allow to warm up for 10 secs before trying to engage throttle. If it doesn't start after 3-4 pulls with no choke then try same sequence again. May have to use 1/2 choke after engine fires. If it still won't start then something is wrong with it & it will need to be checked by a service agent.

I recently tuned up my blower. It starts great but if I turn it off Nd try to restart it it floods and will not start until I let it sit for awhile.

If the engine is warm and you shut it down, leave the choke off, lower the revs and start it. (when the choke is wide open you are using the fresh air coming in to dry the spark plugs and prevent flooding). If the motor is already flooded use that procedure to dry the plugs, then go back to full choke until it tries to start and quits again, then use half choke and pull one more time... works all the time.

Echo pb500 only runs with choke open

I'm not to sure about the question. But you say it runs with the chock open. Your engine will only run with the chock open. Can you clarify?

My blower only runs with 3/4 choke even after warm up.

Look on the carb for 2 screws side by side. where those screws go into the carb, it will be stamped with an "H" and "L". Open the screw that is next to the "H", counterclockwise about 1/4 turn at a time with the engine running, that should solve it.

I have an echo pb-250 blower. This is the second blower ive had issues with. I have had it for maybe three months and this is the second time that ive experienced this problem. I can easily start it but...

what you need to do is remove the white plastic plug just above the diaphram gskt in the base of the carb use a pick or drill bit (but only turn it by hand) till you get it out then you will see a screw which will take a small flat blade screwdriver, start and warm up the blower then turn that screw counterclockwise till your Blower runs right on full throttle. the new equipment made now a days is set so lean for emissions that one change in the weather will affect how they run..... 2StrokeJim

The blower will not run steady unless choke is 80 persint closed i had to move choke up and down to acheive this

Hi jwoods733, I think we should start simplest and least expensive first. Sounds like a simple adjustment. I am assuming it starts ok.Turn The high speed counter clockwise(furthest from the engine) about 1 half turn. May have to play with a little one way or the other. This should fix it. If it doesn't replace fuel filter. It is in the fuel tank, fish it out with a wire bent into a u shape. Hope this helps ya.

Starts and idles will not run above idle unless choked. Have cleaned carb multiple times new fuel filter new air cleaner and cleaned exhaust screen new plug. Maybe a collapsing fuel line?

Hi,
Have you tried adjusting the carb? There should be two screws on the carb (hi & Low) turn the hi screw completely until it stops and then start the unit. Let it warm up and then begin to back the screw out until it starts to run smoothly but strong. Once you have it running then put it in full run position (choke) and you should be good.
Good luck!
