If your furnace lights and the gas stays on for 8 to 10 seconds, then shuts right back off, then you need to clean your flame sensor with light sand paper or steel wool. You might need a new flame sensor, but most of the time they can be cleaned an will work well after cleaning.
The flame sensor on the Amana AirCommand 80/80 SSE is connected to a blue wire within the metal box held on with four screws. Disconnect the blue wire, undo the screw holding it to the furnace, and then rotate it approximately 90 degrees to allow it to be pulled out; the flame sensor is shaped like an L.
Mine had a slight oxidation on it and a little 240 grit sand paper made it perfect in no time!
