SOURCE: I have netgear wireless N-300

If you mean phone modem on PC then no. Check connection between pc and router by acessing the webinterface (instuctions in linksys user manual).

If all OK there then contact your ISP.

SOURCE: emachine doesn't recognize the ethernet cord when plugged in

Sounds like the integrated ethernet port has gone bad. You can install a new ethernet card in one of the PCI expantion slots. Then plug the ethernet into the new card, this should take care of the problem. You can not repair a bad integrated ethernet port.

How do I hook up my acer aspire to my existing phone line modem? I know there is an ethernet cable that goes to the Aspire but I need something that fits the phone jack also. Is there an adapter?

Hello, I regret to inform you that you cannot connect a phone line directly into an ethernet port. The phone line is an analog signal and requires a modem to convert it to a digital signal the computer can understand.

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.

How to hook up the Ethernet 5port Workgroup Hub Model No. ew5HUB

To start with please make sure it says router on it as the title says "Networking Hub". These are two different devices. If not return the Hub and purchase a Linksys Router then follow instructions below.

Assuming you have a router:

Before you begin unplug the power from the Cable or DSL Modem before you start as they will have to be powered on in a particular order I will discuss later.

Your cable or DSL modem will have a cable coming out of it that looks similar to a phone line except a little larger. The cable will say CAT5 or CAT6 or Ethernet on it.

On your Linksys Router there will be a ports/jack that you can plug the Cable into from your Cable/DSL Modem. You want to look for one labled "WAN" or "Internet". Plug it in then plug in the power to your Cable or DSL Modem. When the "Ready" light is on the modem, plug in the power cable to your router.

The next step is hooking it up to your computer. There will be anywhere from 1 to 8 more ports available on your Router that is number 1,2,3,4, etc. Plug another Ethernet Cable into any one of those ports. With the other end plug it into your PC or Laptop, there is only one port/jack on your computer that this plug will fit in. Power up your PC and voila, you should be on the Internet.

Please let me know if this solves your problem.

Thanks,
Adam

I want to not be wireless anymore want to go direct hook up

Take whichever cable/wire that runs from your modem, that should be the first electronic device in the line from your incoming internet service, that would be the main line from whatever your source is be it phone line, cable, or satellite. Plug into the appropiate jack on the back of the computer.
Main incoming line/cable, ----->modem,-------> ethernet cable-------
---------->computer

Internet cable won't plug into phone jack on the back of the pc

on the rear of the pc you may have 2 plug slots, one for the nodem and one for the lan (ethernet cable)
modem port looks like this:e29bde8.jpg

lan (ethernet ports) look like this:ca0da14.jpg

you will notice that the modem is smaller that the ethernet port, look for port that the ethernet cable fits in because you have the right lead because your modem is cable not ADSL

hope this hepls

No internet signal between router and desktop pc.

have you plugged everything in with the modem off and the router off?
have you tried unplugging the linksys for a sec then plug it back in?
also have you checked the pin connection on the plug on both the computer and the router?
what are the lights indicating?

Need to hook up Belkin G wireless router to Motorola SB5120

Plug your cable line into your modem, make sure it's tight, but don't use a tool. Next plug the ethernet line from the modem to your PC ethernet port. Then plug in your power to the modem. Allow your modem to sync. Don't use the USB line at all. Do not even hook it up unless your computer doesn't have a working ethernet line. Don't run the disk either, it will only install the modem driver that is only used if you use USB.

If you have issues connecting after that, you may have to go into your ethernet adapter settings and make sure that it is using DHCP. DSL usually uses a different setting (PPP I think) and you will not be able to connect.

By the way, excellent choice in modems.
