  • Most likely the SD card is not being pushed in far enough to lock into place. You really need to use your fingernail to push it in past flush until you hear a clicking sound, at which point the card will lock into place.
  • Here are full instructions for insertion and removal of the SD card: Insert the memory card with the metal contacts going into the slot first and facing up at you. In other words the SD card label should be upside down when you insert it this way. You need to push the card in past flush to have the spring mechanism lock the card into place. To get the card out of the slot, push the card in past flush and then the spring mechanism will release it. You will hear a click when the card locks into place or is released from the slot.

SOURCE: The SD card, inserted corrrectly,

This is usually caused by damage to the locking clasp inside the camera, or less often due to damage to the SD card. You can try putting a different SD card in to see if that locks, if you have one. Also see if you can notice damage to the locking piece inside.
If it is the locking mechanism that broke in the camera, you can have it repaired by following the steps at the manufacturer's site: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/online_repair_tracking/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_s_series/powershot_s3_is?pageKeyCode=requestRepair
    Hope this helps.

How can I fix a blank 8 gb sd card for my Samsung galaxy note 3?

8 GB SD card is compatible with Samsung note 3.

You need to remove rare cover by just pulling it out.

Then, remove the battery. Push your blank SD card in slot provided above SIM card slot. Push until it locks into place.

Insert the Battery and place cover back to its position.

My memory card won't lock in place therefore I get a "no memory" card message.

Unfortunately it sounds like the locking clip inside the SD card slot is broken or some how stuck? If you can try to look inside the SD card slot in the camera with a flash light, there should be a small clip like plastic to the left sticking out. That is what locks the SD card in place. See if anything is stuck in between like debris, you might gently poke that clip and see if it is stuck? That is what locks the SD card in place, if it is broken or missing, that will require some work to replace the plastic lock.

Memory card slot giving write protection sign. sd card not the problem

Most memory cards have a small recessed tab that you can slide to lock the card. There is usually a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.
Try looking to see if your card has this feature and if it does slide it to the up or opposite position from where it is.

How to remove/load sd card stuck in Huawai M860

The SD memory card slot is spring loaded, to insert the memory card insert the card into the SD memory slot with the SD card contacts going in first and gently push it in until it locks in place. NOTE if the SD card does not slide into the slot easily then the SD memory card has been inserted back to front, turn the SD card around and insert it again.
To remove an installed SD memory card, press the SD memory card and it will pop out slightly then you can then pull out the SD memory card.

SD card won't stay in the slot of my Panasonic Lumix DMC-SL80

is the lock on the card by chance. also depending on how old the camera is and how big the sd card is in gb. the lumix may not be able to handle that size of card, too many gb. My lumix would only accept up to 4 gb, so when I moved to 16 they did not work.

    Coolpix l5 - SD card won't seat

The Nikon are very good about placing a sd symbol on the door of the memory compartment. The trick is to align the dog ear side of the memory stick with the picture on the door the push down until the stick bottoms out in the slot it should then lock in to place. Conversely to remove it push down again until it un locks.

Cannot insert the memory card - push in, won't seat, springy feel

Make sure that you insert the SD card in the correct orientation. If not, it will not lock into place. The SD card is push in to insert and push again to eject.

There is a small diagram showing the correct way to insert the card just below the left hand side of the slot.
