Zenith 44" LCD TV

The yellow spot is due to the BLUE LCD and/or lens assy cracked, reason, to much HEAT! The blue is the darkest color and hold the most heat, so it goes first, always! In some cases it’s only the lens, however most of the time LCD is damage to. Parts are available, however install and alignment is timely. Quick fix is the complete light engine, which for model# E44W46LCD is part# 3141VSN916C, which customer cost is $1,449.27, wholesale for about $1,065.21. Rebuilt, if you can find it around 850.00 to 950.00. However the rebuilt does not always look as good as factory. My advice, TRASH set. This part will fail again in about 3 to 4 years, unless you watch a lot of white video. Remember, on a black or dark picture, all three LCD are blocking 100% of the light, causing extreme heat within the light engine. It’s a bad design.

Light Blue Area - Zenith E4446LCD 44

Light engine needs to be replaced. It is a common problem on this model TV. LG covered mine without charge. Contact LG customer support and explain the issue to them.

Growing blue haze on our picture screen.

This is a bad problem with the light engine caused by overheating usually due to reduced airflow from dirty air filters.
My recommendation is to push your warranty company to replace this subpar model with a different one. There are too many instances of repaired models having a reoccurance of this same problem.

The blue line you are seeing is a product of one or two possibilities. The LCD panel which provides the blue imagery, which by the way is made by SONY Electronics, is defective. The LCD panel, in the optic engine (made by Ricoh) is basically loosing partial horizontal data, or the blue color filter has overheated and is becoming discolored, causing the loss of correct deflection through the optic prism. There are two ways to approach this. LG can offer some concessions and get you squared away, or provide the part, and you would be responsible for the service labor involved. Either way it can happen. The first thing I have to suggest to anyone purchasing a LCD or DLP projection TV is REMEMBER to keep an eye on the air intake filters. LG / Zenith products have one in the rear of the set, and 1 on the bottom of the unit. Reduced air flow through these units cause these "video deflection" issues. Overheating plainly affects these sets. I personally wouldn't own one, no matter who made it.

Zenith E44W46LCD 44 in. Rear Projection (Wont Turn on)

I bought an open box unit at Best Buy, it had no remote or manual. Go to http://www.zenithservice.com/, click on owner's manuals, answer the 4 questions using drop down menus and then you can download an owner's manual and save it to your computer/burn it to a CD/print it out. If you choose to print it out, beware, the manual is 60 pages. One of the 4 questions they ask is "Product", choose Projection TV, not LCD TV. The 4th question is "Model Number", mine is E44W46LCD, is guess everyone's here is the same, duh.
For the remote, I looked in the phone book for an authorized Zenith TV repair company. I called them and gave the model number and paid over the phone. I had the remote shipped to my home address. The total including tax and shipping was $50. The remote they sent is a large Zenith mulit-function #6710v00102k. I don't know if that is the remote that would have came with the TV, it worked without having to program it first. It can control TV/VCR/Cable/DVD/Sat. I t has controls for 6 inputs, SAP, mute, Surf, Video, Picture in Picture, Ratio (16:9, 4:3, Zoom, etc), CC, Freeze, Menu, and controls for DVD and VCR (rewind, play, etc). If you can't find a place in your area to get the remote, Email me at [email protected] and I'll look up where I got mine from. It came from Palm Desert, CA.
I don't know about your TV not coming on, is it plugged in? If it is, that's about all I've got. Gregg
