I turn on my system and it works ok for a couple of minutes. Then it started showing "fan check" for another minute, then shuts itself down. Is it the fan? How can I check that?

To answer your question, yes, it is the fan. There will be screws holding the top cover onto the unit; remove these, and find the fan(also remove any dust you find inside, as this also could render the fan useless due to airflow problems). Make sure it's not jammed or clogged or anything such, and plug the unit in, turn it on, and make sure the fan turns on(in some cases, it waits a maximum of one minute to do so.) If it does not turn on after one minute, then a new fan is needed. Any fan with the same size and power connector will do.

Bosch Axxis WTE86300US turns itself off after ten minutes, won't turn back on for a few minutes after that

I would bet you have a bad sensor. There are a couple of sensors that monitor heat. When it gets too hot they shut it down as a safety precaution. Once it is cool enough it will start up again.

My Nintendo Gamecube seems to reset by itself about every 30 minutes, can anybody help?

If the power shuts off during game play or resets after 30 minutes after the system is turned on then turns off and won't turn back on or the fan isn't working, the system needs to be repaired then. This problem that you have might be the fan thats causing this problem then.

Starts up fine after couple of minutes its shut

Your system sounds like it is either overheating or has a bad power supply If you remove the side panel on you desktop and look at the fan above the processor, it should be running at all times. If not your fan has blown and you must replace it. Please find out what version processor you have before making a purchase, as there are many different types of processors and fans.

Another issue could be poor circulation or inadequate ventilation. Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

Sounds like something to do with a power saving feature either from HP itself or from Windows. It could also be that for some reason your computer is overheating, which it than shuts itself off to protect the processor. I would try playing with your power saving features, and cleaning out the fans.

hi,
Please check for the exhaust,is it coming properly and check the bottom of the Notebook is it heating ?
If heating then this is the issue with the processor fan.
If the temprature is normal then check in BIOS(leave the system in BIOS mode for 8 minutes) if then also it is turning off surely this is the heating issue.
If above mentioned is not working please revert.

Lenovo laptop shutdown suddenly after working for a while

Hi James, replace the fan or If it's still under warranty have it serviced. Suggest you stop turning it on until the fan is replaced. It could be the fan cooling the CPU. You don't want it to fry.
The shut down process is normal when over heating is detected by the system.
