32" Magnavox TV keeps turning off?

I have a 32" Magnavox TV that I only had for two years when it began turning off after being on for a few minutes. Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

Thanks!!

I have the same problem. Loses picture after a few minutes. The power light is still on though. If we are persistent, and keep turning it on again and again, eventually it stays on.

Wondering if this is a pretty common problem, and if anyone has THE solution.

My tv goes into standby every 10 seconds to a minute after turning it on. I have to hit the channel up button or the down button 2 times before it comes back on. It does this over and over and never stays on for more than a minute before going into standby.

When I press the power button the tv will begin clicking over and over. When I press the channel buttons it will begin clicking again. But if I press the power button enough times it will turn on and turn off but the power light stays on the whole time. When It turns on and stays on the picture is off to one side untill it warms up

I have the same T.V. and it would shut off after a few minutes. I found that the the channel and volume controls on the top right of television were difficult to operate. I had to push down hard to make it work. The controls on the top right of T.V. has a circuit board that falls out of it's cradle which causes it to fall on a metal plate shorting it out.The fix that worked for me: I carefully removed the gray rubber cover from channel and volume control with a pocket screw driver and removed black plastic cradle. I retrieved circuit board, locked it back into it's cradle, reinstalled rubber cover and problem went away. I hope this helps!!!!

If you have the following symptoms check the site www.TvRepairKits.com . They have a repair kit for this problem.

Screen shrinks and expands - may or may not correct itself after the TV warms up.

After a few days, weeks, or months of having the shrinking/expanding problem you may loose all audio/video but the power light will remain lit!

32 in Magnavox tv model 32MF231D/37

An earlier post of the smaller model of this with the same problem said to remove the metal cover over the power supply.

I have the 26MF231D and it worked great afterward (even though you can't mount it)

Here is how you remove the cover.

TV FIX

A line across the screen means a loss of vertical sweep. This could be as simple as an IC or as difficult as a deflection yoke. These are not do it yourself repairs.
