SOURCE: Trojans wont go away. Hijackthis SCAN help

Hello,

I've had VERY good luck by using this Kapersky Antivirus rescue. Here is a link to that, courtesy Brothersoft: http://www.brothersoft.com/kaspersky-rescue-disk-197959.html

Scroll down, it is a 102MB download.

Download this to a known clean machine and burn a CD. Once burned, put it in the infected machine and boot. It is a linux based OS Live CD, so it won't be infecting this disc. Live CD's are great, they take a little while to boot though.

Make sure you have an active internet connection as the program will update itself before scanning. If if says it won't mount the internal drive, choose Force Mount. In Settings, choose scan all files, set level to highest threat level.

This CD saved my **** and is now a permanent part of my CD collection!!!!!!!

After this finds the problems, download and install and run both Malwarebytes (full scan) and also Superantispyware (full scan). After those, download Avira-Free AV software.

By this time, you should have killed the beasties dead in their tracks!

Best Regards,
Tom

SOURCE: I am getting a hkcmd.exe-Bad Image error.

:]

The error you got is associated with your Intel integrated graphics driver . You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for it to see if that can clear the error for you.

In minecarft what does this mean: hs_err_pid#

This error could be related to two things, a corrupt java installation or an issue with the graphics driver.

Try first to reinstall the java engine first, if that fails try to reinstall the graphics driver.

Chances are it is a Java issue.

Good luck.

From the HP Solution Center the following error message appears about scanning: Parsing error in file C:\ProgramFiles\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqscloc\1033.xml

1) Go to C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin\ and check how many folders are there for HPQSCLOC .If there are only one folder for HPQSCLOC in that case don't touch the folder.

2) Go to command prompt

TYPE THERE "CD..." AND HIT ENTER

KEEP TYPING "CD." AND HIT ENTER UNTIL WE SEE C:\

WHEN C:\ COMES

TYPE THERE- "regsvr32 /u hpqscloc.dll"

We may get an error in vista which says module failed to load

Follow Step 3

3) Open cmd prompt

Go to C:\

Type there

"regsvr32 hpqscloc.dll on"

4) Download and install

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID

Download and install

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid

=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en

Try to scan

Or else follow step 5

5) Uninstall the imaging device and the solution centre

6) Download msicuu2 from microsoft.com

http://www.filewatcher.com/m/msicuu2.exe.189920.0.0.html

Run the windows cleanup utility

Delete AIO Scan from it

7) GO TO CMD PROMT

Then type CD programfiles\hp\digital imaging\bin

8) Type regsvr32 /u hpqscloc.dll

try scanning and check if it works or not

if not follow another step

9) Tried to uninstall the software

10) then install the software back

It will scan fine

I am getting error message for win32 generic host data executor prevention

Here is my resolution to the error
SVCHOST.EXE GENERIC HOST PROCESS OR
DEP ERROR

IT DOES NOT INCLUDE
DISABLING WIA
OR
DISABLING DEP (which is a good security feature)

I have tried it on upto 3-4 computers with success and complete software functionality
*******************************************
Turn the All in One Off
Uninstall the whole of the HP software on the computer
Run a level 4 uninstall
Start --> Run -->X:\Util\CCC\Uninstall L1.bat
Start --> Run -->X:\Util\CCC\Uninstall L2.bat
Start --> Run -->X:\Util\CCC\Uninstall L3.bat
Start --> Run -->X:\Util\CCC\Uninstall L4.bat

Restart the computer
*******************************************
Check the computer on the restart
Check if you still get an SVCHOST.EXE GENERIC HOST PROCESS OR
DEP ERROR on restart

Start --> Run
Type in Msconfig
Click OK
Click Launch System Restore
Run System Restore
Create a Restore Point named Hp

Click Start --> Run
Type in Regedit
Click OK
Open Registry Editor
Scroll to the following Registry Key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentV
ersion\Explorer\
RemoteComputer\NameSpace\2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D

Right click on this Key Click Export
On the Export Registry Window which comes up
Type Hpprinter as the filename and save it on the desktop

Get back to the same Registry Key
Right Click the Key and Click Delete to remove the key

Restart the computer
THERE SHOULD BE NO DEP ERRORS THIS TIME

(IF you have any issues after deleting the above key <possibility is remote> restore the computer back to the Hp restore point)

*******************************************

Reinstall the Hp printer Wirelessly or on a wired network now the usual way

Once the software installation finishes
Verify functionality

*******************************************
NOW
Right-Click My Computer, then click Properties.

On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.

On the Data Execution Prevention tab

Click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select to select the OptOut policy, and then click Add to add the following programs

Create an exception in the DEP for the following programs by browsing to the correct location. The following list outlines the locations:

Hpcmpmgr.exe (x:\Program Files\HP\Hpcoretech\hpcmpmgr.exe)

HPwuSchd2.exe (x:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\hpwuSchd2.exe)

HP Digital Imaging Monitor (hpqtra08.exe) (x:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqtra08.exe)

HP Image Zone Fast Start (hpqthb08.exe) (x:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqthb08.exe)

Generic Host Process for Win32(svchost.exe)
(c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe)

Add all these files one by one by browsing to the locations

Click Apply and OK
Let the computer restart if prompted
******************************************

Its also at times needed to disable
from the Startup of the computer in Msconfig

Hpcmpmgr.exe
HPwuSchd2.exe
HP Digital Imaging Monitor (hpqtra08.exe)
HP Image Zone Fast Start (hpqthb08.exe)

The reason is the above mentioned exceptions to the Data Execution Prevention are loaded after the Startup loads and the DEP may try to shut them down at the startup itself and generate the errors
Unchecking the above files does not mean losing any functionality on the All in One all the features should work properly

Whenever i try to scan, i get a message saying there is no scan options

Was having the same problem. I was however able to scan using the HP Solution Center. My solution was to make sure "HP Digital Imaging Monitor" was running. I found mine in: C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin The program name is: hpqtra08.exe It has to be running befor you turn on your printer. It's use is to allow you to scan to your computer without using the HP Solution Center.

HP Solution Center cannot detect my 6110 AIO

Hello Buzzland, this error usually occurs when the HP Digital Imaging monitor is not running in the background. HP digital Imaging monitor is a service that invokes the other services when required. If this service is not running, you may not be able to open the HP Solution Center.

You can usually find the icon of HP Digital Imaging Monitor in the systray. To check if the HP Digital Imaging Monitor service is running, open the task manager , and in the process tab, search for the file called "HPQTRA08.exe" . If it is not present , navigate to C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Bin\ (assuming that your system drive is c: and the folder maybe HP or Hewlett Packard) and search for an application file named hpqtra08.exe. and double click it. The application will start running in the background. Sometimes it may also happen that you have unchecked some startup programs from the micosoft system configuration utility (msconfig) and this file (hpqtra08.exe) is also included in them. If so, you must check the application to run it on startup. Now , restart the system and open the HP Solution center. If it works, fine. If it does not work out , open "services.msc" from the command prompt and search for the service called "HPZPML" . If it is found, make sure it is started. (Set startup type = automatically). Restart the system and try opening the solution center.
Still if the issue persists uninstall the complete entire software and reinstall it. This will probably work in case all of ther others fail.

HP C5180 scanner won't scan an image

I'm running Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate Edition. Have the C5180, all-in-one. HP Solution Center continually closed, saying No HP Devices Found. I completely uninstalled the printer software, using the install utility. Then, using Add/Remove Programs, removed all of the other HP software on my PC. Then deleted the HP directory (in program files x86), and removed the HP registry key under software in both HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE & HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Then rebooted. Once that was done and back up, I reran the install utility, but this time I followed the steps below (from here - http://hpanswers.blogspot.com/2007/12/no-hp-devices-detected-hp-solution.html):

Click on next until you get the below three options
(i) Recommended

(ii)Custom-------------->Select This

( iii)uninstall

Choose the custom install and click on next, ****

At begining of the installation, It gives you to 2 options

I) Yes, Check for updates..........

II) No, I prefer to do it Myself--Select this option and click on next

Immediatley in the next window ,you will have long list of softwares with the empty check boxes beside them.DO NOT select(check) Hp update, check rest of them and click on next to continue the installation.

You will able to open the HP solution centre with No errors.

Additionally, I did the following 2 steps, that I mostly found here (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00897551&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&softwareitem=oj-54112-1&os=2093&product=1153481&rule=9653&lang=en)

Add the following files to the Trusted programs list:

*
hpqkygrp.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.
*
hpqscnvw.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.
*
hpqste08.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.
*
hpqtra08.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.
*
hpqthb08.exe , located in the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory.

Open the following ports on the firewall utility by following the instructions provided by the manufacturer:

*
UDP ports: 161, 427 and 137
*
TCP ports: 9220, 9500 and 9290
