Hooked my heater up and it does nothing but make a buzzing sound. If i turn the auto ignite switch on and off the pilot light will come on for a moment. It goes out and the buzzing starts agian

no info generic answer --check thermocouple --and safety switches

There are many different ignitions for pilot light burners. Some are piezo ( You have to press a button to ignite the pilot) , battery ignition, there will be a switch somewhere on the oven to press or switch , or full auto ignition, which is done by an electric ignition pack usually situated under the oven or mounted on the rear at the back. The full auto ignition will light the pilot when you turn the oven on. Make sure you have the gas on, battery is new (If battery ignition) or power is available.

It appears the pilot is behind the metal thing with two holes on it. Can't tell what the holes are but they look like viewer holes. You can follow the main hose and see where it goes to the control dial. From there you can see a smaller metal line that goes from the dial area to behind the metal thing I'm speaking of. Also there is a skinny brass line which is your temperature sensor which the tip is real close to where the pilot area is. You should be able to push down on the automatic igniter and see a spark. That's where your pilot light is which is a good indicator as well. You may have to hold down the igniter for a minute or two to make sure the pilot does stay lit. When you do find the pilot and the pilot does not stay lit you may have to buy a new thermal coupler. Best of luck to you.

if the unit is used you might have to removed the burner and clean the pilot sometimes rust built in the hole and need to be clean out. I had the same problem.

You will find an error code chart on the wiring diagram pasted to the reverse side of one of the panels. It will help you to know where to start looking for the issue. I am also sending you the sequence of operation to give you a few more pointers, read on.

On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the igniter. The igniter will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the igniter gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the igniter does not energize (bad control, bad igniter), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not light (dirty pilot), the burner does not light (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

When you turn the on/off switch to on you are turning on the "fan switch" and the blower motor is only coming on. When you turn the switch to cool and move the tempature control lever down you are turning on the air conditioner...So it sounds like your heater is not working. Is the heater electronic ignition or does it have a pilot? If it has a pilot the heater may not be working because the pilot is out and will need to be lit. If it is electronic ignition you will need to inspect the unit to determine what component is faulty. Could be the igniter,gas control valve,ect. Verify that gas is not shut off to unit at line valve and gas control valve on unit.

The gasvalve has a pilot solenoid which is powered by in essence a thermocouple called a thermopile which converts heatfrom the pilot to to a millivolt output which is why you have to hold the pilot valve till it makes electricty. The main gas valve goes through a series of safety switches and through the thermostat so if any switch has a badoropen contact the heater will never fire find the bad part with a continuity tester and replace it.

Your thermocoupler seems at fault. The thermocoupler is that probe that sits in the pilot flame. It controls the main fuel valve. Make sure that probe is in the pilot flame, better at the tip of the flame and hold the button down for a minute or so after lighting the pilot. If pilot extinguishes, the coupler is faulty. If pilot stays on the heater should fire up when you let up on the pilot button.. Good luck
