Why don't you try to play VOB file in VLC?

Actually, VLC Media Player is compatible with VOB format. But now the question is a lot users have reflected that VLC Media Player fails to play the VOB files beautifully. The general questions can be listed below:
1. VLC Media Player won't play the sound of VOB files. During the playback, it can only play the picture of VOB files without the sound.
2. Only the choppy VOB playback can be presented. VLC can play the VOB files, but the playback may freeze, skip ahead and can only play for a few seconds. The VOB files can't be played smoothly.
3. VLC Media Player won't play VOB files on Windows 10. In comparison, if you are trying to play VOB file on Windows Operating System, some issues may happen, for example, the VOB file won't be played accordingly. It only appears to load the file, instead of playing the file directly.

Means your media player doesn't support that file extension.Easiest solution is to download free media players like VLC and play your media through it.

This is because your player cannot support vob format and obviously you need to convert the vob file or you can try some other free players such as Leawo Blu-ray Player, VLC, Aun Player and so on.

I assume you mean VOB. I have not heard of a VOD file...

If you have gotten your hands on a VOB file somehow, chances are they have been copied/extracted from a DVD. VOB stands for DVD Video Object and is the core file of a DVD containing the actual movie data, an MPEG movie stream and the supported audio.
To play the VOB files, you need to have a DVD player that supports VOB format. However, if you have the Windows Media Player (version 12 or higher) or VLC Media Player, it is good enough to play the file. Note that you will see a prompt telling you that it is an unsupported format, don't worry about it and just play it anyways. It will play just fine.
If you want to obtain the VOB file from a DVD for some reason, just open the DVD in Windows Explorer instead of playing it through a media player. The VOB file would most likely be under the VIDEO_TS folder. Some other files that you will also see in the folder are IFO and BUP. The IFO files are the information files containing meta data about the DVD and instructions for the DVD player on how to handle the disc. The BUP file is simply a backup copy of IFO files.
If you want to convert VOB file to AVI or a similar format, aviNET is a great tool to do that

    run VLC.
google VLC from france, load it run it play DVD's/.(VOB)

his old PC will not play DVD movies
so he uses, local MY PC , explorer see DVD files
and VOB are part of all DVD stuctures.
is MS media play sucks everyone knows that.
    and why.
the way is simple if MS pays out for licenses for all 100 movie formats the OS then doubles in price. ( see how that math works>?) brutal.
then comes the French our hero's (love em)

they write all 100 codex drivers. and give it away free,(share ware , or pay if you like it )
VLC and 100% safe here and ONLY HERE.https://www.videolan.org/vlc/

posted here 100000 times ever search,
or google and see hits to 2001 XP birth and this junk player, in XP forward.
millions of hits, and one more above. with WHY !

there are lots of pit falls, NO OS told , no PC told just HP.
    w7 guess.
w7 likes DVD but not windows.
see pits find them and cover them with blanket?https://pcdied.com/dvd.html

    dvd drive there, and is.
    dvd is real not cloned.
dvd not scratched, cracked or broken
    dvd region not wrong
    did drivers not missing
    VLC not loaded

keep in mind a dvd reads files
    from center hub outward, spiraling.
that means a crack or crater on the outer tracks may seem ok at first.
can seem to have files ok until you play it and discover the movie fails or dvd with 2 movies outer tracks only fail.
you learn all this fast when coping dvd's
and 1 disk as this PIT in the outer tracks.

Hello!!

You need to check or verify the V.O.B format requirements of your TV and your V.O.B format on your U.S.B if it is match to each other.

Just click the direct link the shown above using your mouse.

Problem in playing .vob files

Hi there,
I can play .vob files with a cool media player called VLC player, which plays everything I throw at it. I recommend you download it from here:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

and when you install it, set the File Associations to play everything with VLC, that'll let you double click on a .vob file and play it automatically.
VLC has a much lighter 'footprint' than Windows Media Player, or Nero or many DVD players, and has amazing codec-support already included.
If the .vob files are encrypted, then maybe that is slowing down your laptop, but that is not the only reason for this to happen.
If it still restarts automatically, you may have picked up malware from downloaded movies, and need to download Spybot and scan and immunize your hard drive. Spybot is completely free. Trust me, i don't like paying for things :)
It's also possible that you need to clean up your registry and your drive with a free program called ncleaner. you can find that here:
http://www.nkprods.com/ncleaner/

I suspect you will be successful with VLC player, though. Enjoy your movies :)

DVD player cant read DVD media

.Vob files contain audio, video and subtitles all together. However, most MPEG-2-capable DVD players don't support subtitle tracks. I guess your DVD player is in the mentioned majority. That's why you can only play them in your computer drive.
