Depending on the model TV, there may be a switch on the back to turn the speakers off, or there may a choice on the audio on-screen menu to turn them off. Not all sets allow you to turn the speakers off, but you can always mute the sound, although this sometimes leaves the word "MUTE" on the screen to remind you. You can also just turn the volume all the way down on the TV. If you're using the AV inputs on the TV with a device like a DVD player, another option is to connect the video only to the TV, and feed the audio to the amplifier providing surround sound. Then the TV speakers won't be used at all.

so it is a connections problem I think. Check if video and audio cables are properly connected. Use color codes as your guide. Also from menu check if all settings are ok. Good luck

Can not get my surround sound system to work with Sharp LC-40F22E using usual audio cable, sound still comes through the tv speakers and can not find how to turn tv speakers of or tell the tv to use...

The way to turn off the tv speakers is to press the menu button scroll to the option category navigate to output select and choose variable. However just turning off the tv speakers will not cause the surround sound system to work with this television. Connecting the red and white composite audio cables to the television's OUTPUT will get you stereo sound. Some people opt to keep the tv's speakers turned on when doing this. In order to get the digital optical out to work between the television and the surround sound system you will have to be using input tv. You will have to be using the television's tuner with digital cable no cable box or with an over the air antenna. Did you make sure you connected the red and white cable to the surround sound aux or any composite input and choose the right function on it?

Sound only from left front and right front speakers possibly my projection screen tv is only 2.1 channel does this mean i cannot have surround

surround receivers are supposed to be able to turn a stereo signal into a surround signal.  if the surround unit is producing just a stereo sound, then the tv is most likely outputting in mono, and not stereo; or there is no surround sound to decode..

I can't get sound from my speakers on my Sanyo HT32744 tv but I can get sound from surround sound speakers through surround amplifier.

Most tv's have a way to turn off the speakers. Either a button on the remote, or in the menu. Go into the menu, sound options. See if it says speakers on/off.

NO OWNERS MANUAL

Go to there website to download the pdf version of the manual.

If that does not help look on the back and you should see optical out, audio out type connectors.

Most effective way would be to buy a surround sound amp and connect it via an optical out to the surround sound amp and the surround sound amp will have the connectors for the surround sound speakers.

System echos when dvd is in. When I mute the Bose sytem I can hear the TV sound without the echo.

The echo you hear is the audio delay between your TV speakers and Bose speakers. Muting (or lowering the volume) on the TV will eliminate the echo. Some TVs have a setting to turn of TV speakers entirely, allowing you to listen to your TVs audio strictly through your Bose system.

No sound through tv speakers

Well the problem is that the PS3 only allows output on one channel. So, this is only going to be optical out, or hdmi, or even AV. You only get one option for the output.

Now, if your TV has the capability.. Run the sound through the HDMI to the TV and then let the TV output the digital sound to the surround system. This will give you the option of turning off the surround and re-enabling the TV's stereo speakers.

I hope this gives you an idea of what the problem is. If I were you, I'd just do as I said. This is exactly how I have mine setup. I have a 600w sub on the surround, so late night movies can't be played on it without the neighbors being woke up. So, I simply disable the TV's output and use it's speakers. :)

Tv sound & surround sound

Go to Settings/SoundSettings/AudioOutputSettings/AudioInputConnector or DigitalOut depending on type of input you are using for surround.

Vizio L42HDTV10A sound problems

In my case, turning the surround sound OFF is what fixed the problem. The bass contibutes most to the perception of the location of a sound. If surround is ON without surround speakers connected, the internal TV speakers can only take the place of what would be the front speakers in a surround system. So turn surround OFF and set your bass preference wherever you want it. That worked for me.
