How do I unlock the region code?

I have a Toshiba SD-P91SKN portable DVD player. I want play my DVDs in the UK

    It does not have a serial port --but does have a 'bitstream/PCM jack'--I dont know what that means!

    Its a TOSHIBA --Model SD-P91SKN. Portable DVD player --bought in USA -as a gift--but no one mentioned there it cant be played in the UK --hence my request for help in unlocking the region code!

You would have to change the firmware. Does this have a serial port on it or any other port that can be connected to the computer?

    You may be able to change the region code on the DVD player. Here is a link to a website that lists region codes for different portable DVD players. You can try the codes for other models that are similar to yours and they may work.

This is a link to a page that tells you how to unlock this player. It involves downloading a file then burning to CD which you then put in the player. Hope this helps.

Can only play DVDs for one region code.
Most DVDs can only play DVDs from a single region. However, they sometimes allow you to change the region at least one time. Another option is to make your DVD player region free. This is a hack that can be performed. Once you do this, you can play DVDs from any region.

(1)Power on
(2)Press open on the DVD player to open drive cover
(3)On the remote control
(a)press SETUP button
(b)press right arrow key 3 times,
(the preference page will show up)
(c)press 9653
(d)Use the up and down key to select Region
(Select Region 0 for all regions)
(e)press SETUP again to save choices and exit

Your Audiovox D1917 is now region free!
Also works for Proline DVDP 920W
