Connecting PS3 to receiver via HDMI

Hi guys, my problem is this:

I have a PS3 and I want to connect it to the receiver via HDMI. I have already plug the hdmi cable from ps3 to receiver and hdmi cable from tv to receiver, also i have already connect the optical cable from PS3 to receiver....but i can not get any image or sound from tv and speakers.
Am i failing in something?

First put the orginal ps3 cable onto ps3 then to tv.set tv to see ps3 and go to ps3 setup,now down to display settings,set to hdmi,picture will go off so now switch tv to hdmi input .Next go to sound settings for ps3 and set to hdmi if your amp can work this way ,if not set sound out to optical.

JVC TH-D70 with dual HDMI ports. I have the PS3 to the receiver and the HDMI from the receiver to the TV and I have sound on DVD but not with the PS3 it plays well and I have tv sound but not receiver sounds any ideas.

You need to tell the PS3 to use the HDMI cable output. To test have you tried connecting the PS3 directly to the TV. Once you have that working then add in the AVR.

I have an RCA home theatre...model rt2910. I have hooked my PS3 via HDMI to the TV for the video and used an optical cable for the audio. I set the PS3 to send video via HDMI and audio via optical cable....
You should have the HDMI plugged into the Home theater unit. The theater unit then is attached to the TV using the HDMI out.
The home theater unit passes the HDMI through to the TV while playing the audio for you.
You will likely need to select the correct source on your RT2910.

I have an Onkyo TX-SR605 , I have my ps3 connected via hdmi and from the amp to a 3d tv via hdmi . when i am connecting through the amp the PS3 does not recognise i have a 3d TV and will not play 3d Movies...
No but you may be able to help me. I have the same amp and ps3. I have HDMI leads from both but cannot get sound or picture. I do get the set up menu which means it recognises the HDMI lead. How is yours set up ?

You can connect PS3 video via HDMI to receiver and from receiver via HDMI to TV. But RX-V365 doesn't support HDMI audio, so you have to connect audio separately via SPDIF digital cable. I think PS3 uses optical SPDIF, so you will need optical cable. If you can't find cheaps optical cables in your shop, you can try byuing from ebay ($1-5 max.)

Just connect your receiver to your TV using the same cable your receiver is currently using to connect to your TV, be it Composite, S-Video, or Component. Just switch your TV to that input when you need to set-up something on the receiver.
