Remote message retrieval

When i am at a distant location can and how do I retrieve my calls? Thank you Ed

When you first installed your GE Digital Messaging System, you heard the code that was auto set for it. Once you are out and away from home, phone home and during the answering machine promp press # and then the promps will ask you for your 'pass word [code]. Please be careful as messages deleted by you, you may not beable to retrieve them. This machine doesn't run by cassette tapes.

Get the system administrator to cancel the passcode, then you can do this. But anyone who calls your extension and claims they are u retrieving remotely will also be able to get your messages.

The factory preset code is "11".

Call your phone from a touch tone phone. Enter your remote code (11, or whatever you set it to) during the greeting message. The number of new messages will be heard, and the new messages will be played.

I phoned in from another phone and retrieved my messages. The problem was not with the answering machine but with the phone and calling card I had been using. Don't use a hotel switch board nor calling card, too many intermediate parties for the 2 digit code to work with.
