When you remove the card, the camera is using its built-in internal memory which is very small and won't hold many pictures. Does your card have a slide switch on the side? If so, it should be in the unlocked position.

I have a memory card in my camera but it wont let me take pictures. the screen says Memory card is protected reset switch on memory card....

You neglected to specify the make and model of your camera, so I'm assuming it uses SD/SDHC cards.
SD/SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My picture card is saying no picture when i go to take a picture the card says full it wont let me take a picture??

Hi.

Check AE lock custom button:

d373c1c.gif

Ensure that the memory card has no protective seal or object in front of the protection area. See here.

Ensure that the files are not individually protected (Key sign in settings)

If that does not fix the problem, then the card may be defective. In that case replace the card.

Here a manual.

It says my memory card is right protected and wont let me take a picture

I am going to assume that the camera is using an SD memory card. Remove the memory card. On the side of the memory card there is a small gray (usually) in color that moves up and down, one postion ^ is for lock (write protected) the other is unlocked. Move the small slide, re-insert card and try again.

Camera wont back up to memory card

Hi there.
Check to make sure the write protection is turned off on the memory card itself, the write protection tab is located on the left hand side of the card and is usually coloured white.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

What does write protect mean?

"Write Protect" means that something is locked and your device (camera) cannot "write" to it's storage area.
What type of "storage media" are you using?
For example:  the camera's internal memory, a CompactFlash card, a Memory Stick, an "xD-Picture Card" (micro, mini or regular sized), or a Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard.
[Did you put something  (a small plastic card of some sort) into a slot on the camera before or after turning it on?
Those little cards usually have a tiny button (also called a switch or lever) on them that will move back and forth to lock (write protect) or unlock it. This sounds like the memory card inside your camera is locked or "Write Protected.

To fix this simply take it out, closely examine the memory for the button- the button will be closer to the word "lock" or "protect" and all you need to do is gently slide it in the opposite direction from where it currently is. Put it back into the camera and see if it still says "Write Protect."

Let me know...
