If you see error code F21 on your Whirlpool washing machine, this refers to a water drain problem. The washer won't be able to finish the cycle and your laundry will be wet. This error code means draining is taking too long, and something is wrong with the water pumping.
The Whirlpool washer error code F21 means the washing machine has a "water draining issue", meaning the drain pump itself, or the drain hose is clogged and the washer is having problems draining the water out. In other words, the washer is taking too long to drain the water out of the tub.

The F21 error is generally related to the drain of the washing machine (depending on the brand of your machine). Basically it means that the drain is clogged and the machine is taking too long to empty the water out.
Cleaning the drain is not for the queasy. You can find information on how to clean out the drain by visiting: http://www.kiwiservices.com/angela-says/fix-an-f21-code/
Based on your post I understand you have a F21 problem with a Kenmore washer, the F21 error means an excessive drain time was detected as you may or may not already know.
If you follow the link to my solution to this error you should be fixed up in no time. (It's much quicker for me than pasting or retyping the complete solution several hundred times, that's how common this is)

Error F21 means F21 error means that the drain time has exceeded 8 minutes; this will turn off the water valves. Error code SD means LONG DRAIN. This error appears when the drain time exceeds 8 minutes and the water valves turn off. After 4 minutes the "Sd" error will be displayed, and then 4 minutes later the F21 error code will be displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the display. Please Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. If the drain hose if fine then unplug the washer and check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects. To access the drain pump and filter remove the front kick panel and trace the drain hose to the bottom of the washer, drain pump would be located there. If you are not able to access it, then replace the back panel as well. Plug in washer or reconnect power. If the issue is still not resolved then you would need to replace the drain pump. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information. Daniel
the F21 error means the communication between the touchpad and the control board behind it.
here is what you do:
unplug the washer
check the wiring harness betweeen the control board and the touchpad
make sure there is no corrosion on any connectors on the control board
check for any obvious burns or kinks on the control board & harness
if all of the above checks out okay, i would start by replacing the keypad first
