Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 28, 2010

I paid to have ny DC07 serviced a few months ago and it still takes a few minutes to start picking up dust . Why do you think this is because I have checked it over thoroughly for blockages . This was why I had it serviced in the first place .

There is a selecting mechanism that engages when the handle is brought from the upright position .
It's one of the snap in parts on the right hand side which you actually see pivot when the vacuum is engaged, I just found this out with my own DC07 . When it pivots upward it is then locked in place you can also see a square black button just above the pivot nozzle,it is engaged when the handle is returned to the upright position. This directs suction to either the handle or the brush head. In my case, the pivoting nozzle was not completely engaged in an upward position. Some cleaning and adjusting solved the problem. as you said after a minute or two that the suction commences and there's the reason why, a sticking selector. Take a closer look at that section of the machine.
Happy Dysoning!

Periodically my Dyson DC07 stops operating, and then will resume operating after about a 10 minute wait period. Is there a thermal switch or "cutout" if the motor is overheating?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson vacuums, DC07 is equipped with a thermostat which shuts the machine down for protection if it starts to overheat. This will often be due to a blockage, and the pre-filter may also be overdue for a wash.

The machine will reset automatically after it's been allowed to cool down, but to prevent this from happening again there are a few simple check you can try: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc07/dc07-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-won-t-switch-on-or-cuts-out/my-machine-cut-out-whilst-i-was-using-it/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suction

We recommend washing the filter at least once every 3-6 months, using cold water without detergent. Allow the filter to dry completely before replacing it - this may take at least 12 hours.

Removing any blockages and washing the filter thoroughly should resolve the issue. However, if your machine continues to shut off after you've tried both of these steps please get in touch with us directly so we can talk you through some additional troubleshooting checks. DYSON WONT PICK UP

It sounds like there's something wrong with the changeover valve. This determines whether the airflow is directed to the cleanerhead or the wand and I think also provides the resistance to keep it upright. It's the bit above the right wheel as you stand behind it so try taking the inspection cover out and have a close look in that are for something wrong.

I HAVE A DYSON DC07 I HAVE CHECKED ALL HOSES AND PLASTIC ATTACHMENT SECTIONS , CANNOT FIND ANY BLOCKAGE ANYWHERE IN THE SYSTEM .THE BELT IS GOOD AND THE BEATER BAR IS ROTATING WELL , BUT THIS VACUUM WILL...

I have just cleaned mine just a half an hour ago - SAME PROBLEM !!
ok take the dust cylinder off the vacuum cleaner and take the plastic clear cylinder off - there is a clear clip one side and you might need a small knife to unclip other side. PULL the clear away from motor with the fins and suggest you get a coat hanger, turn the end slightly and gently rod the dust out from the central core - LOADS will come out.... clean it totally !!. Then re-assemble.

Point to note... the cover at the bottom where the brush roller is needs to be carefully clippd FULLY and re-tighened (white plastis screw heads) - The suction should be back !! you'll find that after cleaning all the filters and fully drying them - the machine will be working almost as new.... JUST DONE IT MYSELF. Good luck

Dyson DC07 bagless - upright mode v poor suction, wand mode ok

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the bleed valve is activating which only happens when there is a blockage.

We would recommend following the full blockage through as outlined in your user guide or in the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards
Darran

I turn my dyson on and it runs for 5 min then turns off

The motor may not be getting air flow past it due to clogging or dust build-up. It is probably shutting off because of a thermal overload switch. Good luck!

DC07 switching off & overheating

You can unclip the hose from the main body of the machine and you may be able to see any blockages as a result. Check your belt, beaterbar and replace your filters also. Make sure there is no blockage near the top of the machineover the small holes in the dust collection area.

Dyson won't pick up heavier particles -

check the hose line from the base to inlet of the canister, there may be a blockage, like hair or plastic (i had a lego block and hair)

clear obstruction, and check the belt.
hope this works !

Dyson won't run

Could be overheating. I know that there is the cylinder where the dust goes, but after that there is a foam filter between that and the actual engine. You will need to make sure its cleaned out.

im not 100% familiar with your model, but my one had alot of advertisement with it when i bought it telling me that every 6 months i needed to take this foam pad out, wash it out one way, then the other, then leave to dry for 24 hrs.

Remove the cylinder and work backwads towards the engine, there may even be a little sticker to tell you where it is, and how to remove it (seriously i have 2 stickers on my vacuum)
