JVC av48wp30 question... I just replaced the STK 392 110s in my tv. I don't know what I did, however when I push the power button the tv clicks, as if wanting to turn itself on...but no picture or sound. After about 30 seconds it clicks again and then the blue light (on the front panel) flashes. Anyone know what is wrong here...? Any ideas on how to fix it? Does the tv need to reset? If so, how can I do that? Thanks for your HELP!!!

SOURCE: JVC 42 inch LCD HD TV has no picture or sound

utencilio posted this fix. It worked for my JVC LT-42X579.

Okay, I found a fix! Called JVC, spoke to somebody there, here it is:
1)unplug the TV completely, no wall no power strips, completely
2)wait 10 sec
3)plug TV back in and Turn it on, the light will still be doing the same thing
4)wait 30 sec
5)ON THE TV, not the remote, locate the menu, volume (-) and power button.
6)while simultaneously holding down the menu and volume (-) button, pressed the power button ONCE and continue to hold the other 2 for 10 sec.
7)on the remote control, go to menu>settings>system info
*** now this I know as a FACT will work on systems that display: JVC - ver.5.32FO001, but I don't know of any other versions***
8)press the mute button on the remote twice
9)unplugg TV again and wait 10 sec.
10) plug TV in and turn on

It SHOULD be working normally now... Thanx to the guys a JVC support for this one, I know it seems like an obvious first place to look, but sometimes it isn't. I for one checked online forums first

SOURCE: my tv won"t turn on.

1. Hold [menu] and [vol-] button on the side of the TV
2. while holding these, press the [power] button on the side of TV (NOT remote)
3. blue light comes ON and stays ON
4. wait 10 seconds then let go of [menu] and [vol-]
5. wait another 30 seconds and some type of picture should appear

I think this is right. I got it from the JVC call centers guys so sorry if I missed or messed up a step.

We have an AV48WP30 JVC TV. It has a convergence problem. We followed the instructions posted on the website. When we pulled out the board we discovered the chips were STK392-180. Aren't they supposed...

Tries websites like Tvrepairworld.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy the whole convergence kit for the repair, yes it cost alots more than most placed, but it put togetther by the professionals reparing thse DLP tvs for years. The kit's will be gaureentee have the wright 2 STK chips and all those resistors, pico fuse most often burn too.The kit also came with a instructional DVD.

Red horizontal lines

Hi,
Misaligned red lines in your TV is due to failure of Convergence Out ICs and requires replacement.

Let me know if you are familiar with TV repair to provide you part number info OR call local TV tech to fix the TV.
Thanks.

Blue swirl on JVC - AV48WP30

you can get alot of different opinions on here but the best i can do is tell you to call a tv repair service to have them come out and repair the tv instead of trying to do it yourself and possibly making it worse than it allready is. with a repairman you get a guaranteee its fixed on here all you get is guesswork and you dont need that

What is the correct part number?

The recommendation of the manufacturer is to replace the ICs with the same part number. In this case, use hte STK 392-110. Some people "upgrade" to the STK 302-150 because it can handle more power. The added power handling will not significantly increase the time of the set at all. This is your call. Either IC will work as the pin-out is the same for both.

I'd use the original part number.

JVC AV48WP30 Rear Projection TV

There are a number of different STK type parts. You need to look on the old ones for the part numbers. May have to dissassemble the heatsink to see the number. STK is pretty good about its numbers and you should have no trouble finding them.

JVC AV-48WP74

havent had time to check these things out but here is some raw research I have done

No. The CRT driver ICs are prone to shorting and cause this symptom (I just had one with those very symptoms and the green CRT driver IC was shorted). Disconnecting the CRT board does not clear the short on the board. Often then is a small burn mark on the CRT board under the affected IC (but not always). The IC should be a TDA6111Q. Be sure to note the proper position
of the IC as it should face with the letters TOWARD the heat sink!!!!

Larry, Check the CRT driver ICs on each of the CRT boards.

Hi Guys, I don`t see many JVC`s and don`t have the print for this AV48WP30, went out this morning and as customer claimed on phone when you plug set in and turn on it makes a loud thump thump in both speakers 20-30 times then relay clicks, the thump stops, and blue idiot light on front goes dim/bright, dim/bright, have to unplug set to start this same scenario over again. Never develops HV or audio, Will order the service manual today, but would like to know if anyone has seen this before (should say "heard" this before)
I would disconnect each crt board and hv lead one at a time and try. Have seen several bad tubes on that model. The only other problem I have seen on that set is bad convergence amps, however that doesn't cause shutdown.

Above from JVC Web site, also I have seen shorted video drive IC's on the crt boards short and cause this symptom. Try unplugging the 200 volt source to the crt boards and see it the set powers up and stays on. There is a B+ relay which supplies 130 Volts to the horizontal output circuit. Is this relay energizing? I takes about five seconds after the power is turned on for it to energize. If a short is detected on the 130 volt line the blue power lamp on the front will do what you describe and the relay will pulse on and off. (David)

Symptom:
Non-functional Digital Input
Solution:
1. Power off the unit
2. Disconnect the digital input if it is connected
3. Remove the rear cover
4. On the digital input module, using a shorting pin (PC type) or a
jumper, short Pin 1 and Pin 2 of the
SB connector
5. Power on the unit
6. Unplug the unit and remove the shorting pin or the jumper
7. Re-attach the unit’s rear cover
8. Power on the unit, and input the digital source

JVC AV-48WP30 48 in. Rear Projection

this is the raw research for this that I have found. It seems like the most likely culprit for this is the stk chips on the convergence board (JVC didn't put nearly enough heat sink compound on should be a small layer all the way across they put on a couple dabs) I hear tale you can check this out by disconnecting the convergence board and turning on the set . only go after the convergence board from the front (behind the speaker grill is another panel, the convergence card is right behind there) there is a sneak circuit which will kick in possibly destroying at least the dvi input and mabie more if the set is powered on with the back removed and you didn't put a jumper in the right place or cover over a hole in the back of the dvi module (supposidly to keep people from hacking movies, like there arn't easier ways to do that if you really wanted to). if that doesnt fix it then I have found several other possibilities but I am now a few hundred miles from the tv that I was working on so havent had a chance to try this out:
