How do I get TV sound through my JVC THD-50 speakers? I already connected the red and white cables to the only "audio in" jacks on ht e back of the receiver. The only option for input selection are DVD, AM/FM, both of which are internal, i-pod, USB memory and Video. The i-pod and USB memory are on the front of the receiver, leaving video as the only logical selection...but it still does pick up the signal from the cable box throught the Video channel; there is no auxillary input like my last 2 systems had.

Yes, that is correct. You can either use optical or digital for the audio to the jvc system. They give you 2 options but you can use either, they both work just as well.

Just go into your sat box setup menu and under setup system option select audio and make sure to go to the dolby digital option and turn it on. This feature is turned off by default from the factory. You will always get 2 channel sound unless that is on. Also remember to go to a hd channel as they are broadcast in surround sound and non hd channels are broadcast in 2 channel.

Connecting tv external speakers

Process of elimination... First and foremost, you didn't tell us what model Bravia TV... the RX-V model has so many plausible connections to that TV, even if there is no optical on the TV.

Would you please verify TV model, and check exact Yamaha Model, I looked for the model you state and couldn't find it.

Generally speaking... red/white is the oldest way to connect to your receiver... are you connected to the correct input? and how is the receiver to send to the tv? What is the input... cable, dvd, etc... then you select "input" then on the receiver you select OUTPUT only is labeled on the receiver. Now... let's say cable box goes into the TV, and you are wondering why no audio.. that is because you are using an INPUT on the tv white/red to the receiver.. cannot do that, won't work, only HDMI can talk both way on some HDMI input/output. The only only only way output from a TV can be done is HDMI arc ...(look up ARC) and then enable it on receiver too.... or a optical from tv to receiver, or lastly output red/white on the tv... and in some you don't have any but may have a headphone jack that you'd buy a headphone jack to red/white ... take the headphone jack plug that in.. that is output, make the input any input on the receiver and you will select that input on the remote and it'll work.

Gimme more infor and I can get you better answers :)

Cant figure out how to hook them up

Two audio input cables are supplied with the speakers. If your computer has a stereo mini jack, use the cable with a stereo mini plug. Otherwise, use the cable with RCA plugs on both ends. Match the colors on the connectors to the colors on the jacks, red to red and white to white.
The speaker cable is already attached at one end to the accessory speaker. Plug the other end into the TO ACCESSORY SPEAKER jack on the powered speaker.
1. Connect one end of the audio input cable to AUDIO INPUTS A. 2. Connect the other end to your computer's AUDIO OUTPUT jack. We recommend using LINE OUT if your computer sound card offers more than one option. 3. To connect a separate CD-ROM, or another source, repeat steps 1 and 2 using AUDIO INPUTS B.
You must connect the AC power pack to operate the speakers. 1. Plug its cable end into the power jack on the powered speaker. 2. Plug the power pack blades into the wall outlet. 3. Turn on your computer sound source or external sound source.

Hi How connect my wii through JVCTH-D 50 SYSTEM

the reason that you cannot see the wii is because the yellow connection on back of th-d50 is an output not an input. you will need to connect the yellow to your tvs input if possible, and leave the red and 9hite for audion on th-d50. if wires are attached together, then you will need to connect your wii directly to tv, and then use a set of red and white cables to connect from audio outt on tv to audio in on jvc unit.

I hvae just purchased a Samsung HXT 30 sound system and connected it to the tv anbd sky hd box how do I get sound from the tv it would appear it is a problem what cables do I need I have aq HDMI from the...

You need to run a cable from your Sky (satellite box) box's 'Audio Out' jacks to the sound system's 'Audio in' jacks. Make sure the Sound system is set on the same function as where you plugged in the cables (RCA type, red & white) on the back of the sound system. (example: if you used the 'Auxilliary' jacks, set the sound system on 'Aux')

If it's sound 'from' the TV as well as the sound system you'll need to connect another set (of red & white RCA) cables from the Sound System's 'Audio Out' jacks to the Television's 'Audio In' jacks. This should give you sound from both the TV's speakers and the Sound System. Good Luck!

Setting up Unit

I called the JVC tech service rep. I went from the Cable box to the JVC unit with a Digital Optical Cable, from dvd/vcr player to jvc unit with a Composite Cable and Audio Cables. From cable box to tv with hdmi cable and from jvc unit to tv with componet cables and cable box to dvd/vcr with Audio/ Video and S-Video cables. This allows me to have the cable TV access and Surround sound in all mode. I have HD and Digital surround sound in three diiferent modes. Everything is working great.
Thanks for the opportunity for help just the same.

Sincerely, cthomas249

Set up

The red and white plugs are audio - they should go to one of the receiver's inputs.

The yellow plug is composite video - if your receiver has a yellow jack, plug it into the receiver (this will let you switch inputs from the receiver), if not, plug it into your TV.

Same goes for your tape deck, though it won't have a video output.

I just bought a JVC THD50 surround sound system. I want to hook up the system to my television and cable so when I watch cable I can hear the surround sound. I bought a digital optical audio cable and...

See below for the correct setup to get the best clarity sound possible.

From Set top box:
  1. Audio: optical or digital coax cable output --> jvc system Input
  2. Video: hdmi output--> jvc system input
From JVC System:
  1. Video: HDMI output---> TV HDMI input
TV:
  1. only accepting HDMI input from JVC System.
This will provide you will sound from your jvc system at all times. Your JVC system is made to be used as a hub. So essentially what you are trying to do is connect all components into the JVC system. Then only connect the video portion to your TV. The TV itself should NOT be emitting sound.

Note: You may need to turn off the speakers in the TV setup menu to acheive no sound from the TV. This will make for the ultimate experience.
