The dryer keeps triping the breaker when pluged in and not runing

Check to make sure the breaker is rated for the current draw of the dryer. If it is, you MAY have a bad breaker. Replace your breaker and If the dryer is still tripping the breaker, your dryer needs to be repaired by a qualified technician.... the heating element is probably burned up and shorting out.

Your circuit breaker is bad,can't tell by looking,remove and take to lowes and match up and install and see if it trips again.

Did it work trouble-free before?! Is it on its own circuit?! Are you sure breaker is of appropriate rating?!

First thing I would do is remove the wires to the relay on the compressor and check it for shorts between the pins to the frame. Probably a shorted compressor or it could be the relay itself but I doubt it.

make sure breacker isnt triped had one do the same thing one side of breaker was triped

1) Short in the dryer heater element.
2) Breaker / fuse is not high enough amperage for dryer.
3) Too much running on the same circuit as the dryer.

I bet you did not get the center bearing in exactly right and the drum rubbed against the element. Seen it.

Please provide more detail about the 'surge'?

Unplug. Ohm out plug between nuetral and hot legs to see if
a direct short. If not probably bad motor.
