I own a Samsung AV Surround Receiver AV-R720. I see that there are similar problems with this unit. The left front speaker started to crackle only to clear up within a minute or two. No the system's volume increases & decreases automatically. As of last night the audio sounds as if is muffled. Is there anything I may try to correct this problem or am I looking at an expensive repair?

Same here....as you look at the speakers, teh front one to the right of the TV started crackling then eventually stopped working and now all sound is muffled or non-existent. I find sites mentioning this flaw but no fix???????????? It is only 2 years old.

I have exactly the same problem. The front right started crackling so i unplugged it cause I thought it was the wire but now, the sound is muffled, I can increase the volume to max and doesn't do anything and sometimes it goes up and down again and up without touching anything. I tried plugging the sound through optic (2 different wires) and component (red and white wire) I get the same problem.

What is the Panorama, c-width and the dimension effects on my receiver?

copied from av-r720 pdf manual:
C-WIDTH : This sets the width of the centre image. The higher the setting, the less sound comes from the centre speaker.
• DIMENSION : Incrementally adjusts the sound field (DSP)from the front or surround.
• PANORAMA : This mode extends the front stereo image to include the surround speakers for an exciting "wraparound" effect with side wall imaging.

My Samsung HT-AS720ST (AV-R720) surround sound receiver started making crackling noises in the front right speaker. I've changed the speaker and cable, but still the same results. Is there any hope for...

The problem is caused by the PULSUS PS9829B digital audio processor. We ordered it in from a Samsung authorized service centre.
Problem is now solved. Unit works perfectly. If you have never tried working with surface-mount ICs I would skip it if I were you. This IC has over 100 pins on it. However the part is available from Samsung. Print this comment and take it to your locat service centre along with your receiver. They should be able to repair the board unless they are wussies and cannot do surface-mount work.

Samsung AV-R720 - front right speaker crackles

THIS RECEIVER IS JUNK. I had the same problem with my receiver and Samsung gave me a new unit as it was under warranty. 8 months later the replacement which was brand new did the same thing. Samsung tells me it is my problem now. I should have demanded another unit. the best advice I have is not to buy this product. Samsung won't help you when it breaks and it will break. Nobody seems to know how to fix it.......

2 month old ONKYO TX-SR706 speaker circuit problem

This is a problem with the surround sound processing. Effectively the digital signal is not being processed properly. Since this unit is so new, return it and request either an exchange or at least warranty service. The DSP board will likely be replaced.
