Replace the ignition coil on the flywheel side. I'm fairly sure that is the problem.

It always helps to say exactlly what model we are talking about, 14" could be anything, some models have coils and igniter boxes.

Try a new spark plug.If still does not fire you have a bad ignition coil.

Its a poland 295 pro chainsaw still won't start

this problem could be due too a number of things first check to see if you have fire by pulling the spark plug then putting the wire back on it and pull the cord to see if it has fire i would not hold in hand unless you want a jump start for the day..If you have fire then check to see if you are getting fuel by adding a little fuel direct to carb not to much or you will flood it then see if it starts..If so ur lines may be stopped up...really them are the two main things to start the chainsaw fire and fuel..

My husqvarna 288 wont start, has extreme high compresion and cant pull cord with the spark plug in it. easy to pull with spark plug removed

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HUSQVARNA-288-CARB-REBUILD-KIT-COMPLETE-TILLOTSON-NEW-/140290773535 Your carb.may need rebuilt, remove and inspect, did you leave gas in it while it was stored,if so then carb is suspect.About 80.00 for a shop to repair,14.00 for you to do it.

I have a 18in husqvarna chainsaw that wont start. The gas mixture is correct and my spark plug is fine. The chainsaw is not seized up because it has compression when I pull the starting cord.

If you have fuel to the plug and a spark at the plug it is going to fire, unless it has sheared the flywheel key and the timing is out, or it has scuffed the piston, it may seem to have some compression but that could be because the cylinder is flooded, just remove the muffler and check the condition of the piston through the exhaust port.

How to start a Husqvarna 445?

Set choke to full on. To do this depress throttle all the way down and set choke lever to on. Pull starter rapidly until saw fires . Once it has fired set to start and pull starter cord until it starts. If it doesn't start in ten - twelve pulls, reset choke for two or three pulls, then switch back to start. Pull starter cord until it starts. When it starts it wii be at full R.P.Ms. Let run for twenty to thirty seconds. then move switch to run. Hope his helps, Thanks

Respected Sir, I purchase a Husqvarna's chainsaw last week Model 236- 14". but I cant start it. I read manual carefully, every thing is OK. but Chainsaw can't start yet. So I request you,...

Checklist:

2-cycle oil mixed with FRESH gasoline
Spark plug wire pushed onto spark plug
Chain tight but you can still move it forward with your hand
Switch turned on
Pull the cord a few times, and then let it sit for a few minutes in case it's 'flooded' with fuel

If a new chain saw won't start, it probably has defective spark coil
Chain saws usually don't cause problems fresh out of the box, they stop working if people leave gasoline in the tank for a couple months each time.

Here's what I would do
Empty the tank of gas. Put fresh gas-n-oil into tank (not gas from an old can that was sitting there for a while)
Try starting again.
If no luck, then take it back and exchange for another.

Good luck sir.

Kia ora, i have a makita 2 stroke grass cutter, that just wont start, checked, spark plug, fuel, took it apart and cleaned it..still wont start. Please help, it does not have model number only product...

Engines need 4 things: Spark, compression, fuel, exhaust

1) Does spark plug have spark?
Take out plug, put plug wire back on plug, hold plug threads against metal part of engine, pull cord, do you see spark between plug and engine?

2) While spark plug is out, put finger over hole and pull cord. Do you feel suction that shows compression?

3) What about the exhaust port? Is the screen blocked with carbon deposits and dirt? Soak it in WD-40.

4) Do you have 2-cycle oil in gasoline? Do you have fresh gas? Did you leave gasoline in tank for several months? Is the carburetor clogged with gum?

5) What about the air filter? Does it fire up without air filter? Will it fire if you spray WD-40 into carburetor? Can you keep it going while spraying WD-40 into carburetor?
If it fires with WD-40 but won't keep going on it's own, then the gas is not getting to carburetor or carburetor is clogged with gum.

Hard to start, new racher455

1) Check plug & gap if that doesn't work try new plug. 2) Try cleaning air filter 3) Clean out main jet 4) Test petrol filter inside tank if dirty fit new one 5) Take plug out & fit inside HT lead & put to head of engine & see if you can see a spark when you pull the cord

Won't crank, thing next to spark plug keeps popping up

Jerry is correct the compression release is ajdacent to the spark plug. If it pops the saw fired and the release closed (what it is supposed to do).
Read page 22 here:
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/HOUS/HOUS2009/HOUS2009_1151382-49.pdf
Excerpt follows: "Pull the starter handle (D): Pull the starter handle with your right hand and pull out the starter cord slowly until you feel a resistance (as the starter pawls engage) then pull firmly and rapidly until the engine fires. Push in the choke control as soon as the engine fires which can be heard through a "puff" sound. Keep on pulling the cord powerfully until the engine starts."
Continuing with the choke closed causes flooding. Please read the "Warm Engine" too it is slightly different.
