Don't try to fix it yourself. If it is new, it is still under Nikon's one year warranty. Contact Nikon at 1-800-NIKON-US (1-800-645-6687) 9AM-8PM EST, Monday to Friday.
Reviews by camera review websites and owners alike, have noted the inability of the camera to zoom while in movie mode. Other cameras in the Lumix line up do have the capability, but it appears that this one does not.
Usually this is beacause you press the button "visible", all camera have this button to choose the visible model of the LED, you can turn off it to save power to take more photos by view sight from the small sight window above the screen.
I have the same problem. I actually get the initial language choice screen showing up on my X10 and then once I select a language, the PS3 says that it detects an HDMI device and do I want to get sound and video through HDMI. I say yes, and screen goes blank. Saying no, screen also goes blank.... Any solutions to get past this screen?
CCD sensor fault ( not outputting anything so no pictures captured ). Have the sensor replaced but try to have it done free of charge. Sony does replace them free of charge but you have to check with them ( not all models with this fault are repaired free of charge ).
Hi, here is a temporary solution that might work for you as it did for me:
1: turn on the camera in picture/movie review mode
2: turn the screen off (not the camera)
3: change from review picture/movie mode to take picture/movie mode
4: turn the screen back on.
You should now be able to take pictures and record.
