I HAVE SONY VIO VGN-CR354, IM USING WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE AND MY BUILT-IN CAMERA IS NOT WORKING..PLEASE HELP.

Hi,I have Vaio model VGN-SX44GN with windows vista operating systems. I just have installed windows 7 professional to replace my windows vista. The problem is my VGA-card was not read by the newest OS. How to fix my problems? please help me

you might need to download the driver software again which you can do so by visiting the Sony official website and searching for your laptop model.

You need the Win7 camera driver, check sony support at:

just enter your Win7 operating system (there are 9 versions of Win7), and select the downloads (2)
for your computer camera driver.

Versions of microsoft Win7 - determine which yours is by (these instructions are for WinXP);

START > Control Panel > System > General (tab)

There is no specific Windows 7 camera driver for this model, but you can still trying installing the driver i.e. vista camera driver in Windows 7. Please download the driver from HERE. and follow THESE instructions. It should work. The instructions may be a little different, but I hope you won't have problem following them. use the 32 bit explorer found in all programs your webcam is not 64 bit compatable.

1. The drivers for this Web camera may not be developed for Windows 7 64 bit by the manufacturer.
You will either have to purchase a new camera to be compatible with Windows 7 or Vista 64.
This is also true for your SD card reader.

i assume you upgraded the operating system to windows 7 ultimate using a retail copy of disc.
vgnfj270/b only supports windows xp and vista home basic.

I have this same computer. Didn't it come with 32-bit Vista, cause mine did. The hardware of the camera may not be compatible with 64-bit. Also, did you do a clean install? Cause that's what I did by mistake when installing Windows 7 and none of my hardware worked. I ended up switching back to Vista because Sony did not provide any drivers for Windows 7 for this computer.
