Coby MP620 MP3 Player Logo
Posted on Oct 04, 2017

We have a Coby MP620-4G right now and we're just trying to connect it to our computer, using the usb cable it came with, for the first time to transfer songs onto it. However, we keep getting an error message whenever we try this: One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. Can you help, please?

Do you leave the hold button on? If so, turn off hold when you plug it in.

I can help you with you Coby 610 mp3 player.

What is happening is that your Coby isn't communicating properly with the computer. You don't need a driver, you just need to repair the Coby's system software.

Replacing the firmware in your mp3 player should have it working like new again.

Please try these steps to fix your Coby MP-610 MP3 Player.

I hope that helps.

Coby mp3 player

Try to reset it if possible.
If the computer charges it then the computer recognizes it as a connected device. That's how usb works. It could be you need a new USB cable. Many devices that use USB for charging do not have the data leads connected in their cables. This is called a "vampire" connection as it only sucks 5 volts DC from the computer/charger .

How do i download music to my mp3

It has to be done using a PC. First download the songs on your PC and put them in a folder. Please remember to name the folder. Next connect the Coby using a USB cable provided by the company to the PC. Click on my computer and see if your see the Coby device on the screen, next right click the mouse on the music folder and select Copy , then right click on the Coby logo on My Computer and select Paste. The music files will be transferred to the Coby device.

When your computer is on, try clicking the "safe to remove hardware" icon and "disconnecting" the device from the computer. NOT actually disconnecting the cable, You should see the screen on your Coby change from "USB Connected" to "Charging"

How do I recharge Coby MP3 player? I plugged into USB port for over an hour but it stopped playing after about 20 minutes. Do I need to replace the battery or charge it longer or both? Thanks. Claudia

Coby MPC7085 requires a 12 hours charge when used for the first time.
Always use a direct connection to the computer when charging with the USB cable: a hub or cardreader should be self-powered.

Computer does not recognize Coby MP822 4G MP3 player

The actual MP3 player should display a USB connection on the screen, if not, I would say its a connection issue (bad USB cable), my guess is your using a laptop, a lot of laptops disable their USB power options, you probably need to re-enable your USB ports, if desktop, it should show a USB connection on MP3, if not, battery or cable issue.

Coby MP-200 wont register on windows xp

This is a flash device and it comes with a USB extension cable, try not using the extension cable and plugging the unit directly into one of the REAR usb ports on your computer. This should make the device show up as a 'Removable Disk' drive under 'My Computer'.
