This Canon ES10V is completely dead, won't power with a cord or battery, and one of my tapes is still inside. I need a way, schematic or illustration, to get the cassette out manually. I have already removed the tape door and everything is exposed, I just don't know what to do next to get the tape to pop out. The camera means nothing to me, I just want the tape inside so I will take whatever action needed, just need some direction.
Again, the camcorder is DEAD, WILL NOT POWER UP BY ANY MEANS, need to MANUALLY remove the cassette.
If the camera MEANS NOTHING to you then take a screw driver (flat head) and carefully pry the door off, then when you see all the metal hinges and things of that nature, take a pair of vice grips and twist them right to left, and up and down, until they snap off then if the tape is still engaged in the recording mech, take a screwdriver and CAREFULLY push the wheels up while using another screw driver to pry the BOTTOM of the tape out, you may have to pull the ribbion out of the tape.... but just be careful not to rip it, then unwind the tape from all pulleys, rollers, and heads hope this helps a little

a dremel will work wonders for grinding carefully around componets that if destroyed will ruin the tape, if you tear the tape dont freak out simplytape them back together you will lose abour 1.8seconds of film
can you send me some close ups of the camera? as to what has been done then i will circle what to remove :)

if there is a lever i think it might be just a little to late for it to function, but there is usually a pinhole somewhere around the crack where the door and the case of the camera meet, with the tape still engaged it wouldnt do anygood

First take off the outer panels which should be held in by screws. Then go to the metal assembly holding the tape in and force it open the way it would open normally. You can take a pliers and start ripping it apart if it just won't move but with enough force possibly with a flat-headed screwdriver to pry it, you can open it up the way it is designed to open with power. Most likely you have a loose or broken connection from the power supply which can be fixed if you want to salvage this camcorder. Let me know if you have any questions while doing this
Since the tape is still around the drum, you will need to remove ALL of the outer panels and separate the left and right side of the camera. The camera should split down the middle and allow access to removing the tape from the drum

I would not recommend trying to remove a tape that is stuck Because the eject and load mechanism is controlled by a motor and you have to supply voltage to in the correct polarity to get the camcorder to take the tape in or eject it, that means that you would have to disassemble it.
That is the case with all camcorders - analog, digital, new or old. If you need the tape I suggest sending it in to a shop If you can do the repairs yourself
Dismental the camera. Try to locate the power board. have a look at the components near the battery connector or the power connector. there you will be able to locate 3 to 4 safety fuses. check the continuty. if found open replace it or jump them and and try to eject it.
you can also try to locate the motor for tape deck loading mechanism. Remove the flex ribbion connector of the motor from the pcb, then try giving 3 volt supply from an external device to the motor in both the direction. in one direction it will move the deck outward, but be carefull when the cassette is being ejected a little portion of the tape may get damaged.

most cameras of this type have a series of cogs inside that u can manualy turn by hand or by using a small screw driver,wich will inturn open casset mechanism you need to have a good look and you will suss it out i have done this many times with camcorders dvd players and vcrs, take care andy hope this helps

I will smash this camera to get the tape out if needed, I am not looking for a clean or delicate way to do this. I want the tape out by ANY means, just need to know what to push or take off. Again, I don't care what happens to the camera, it is trash to me, I just want the tape out.

I forgot to mention the tape is still around the drum. I don't mind taking the camera apart until there is nothing left, but I don't want to damage the tape, it is footage of my son when he was 5 years old so it is very important to me to find a solution that will allow me to salvage the tape with minimal to no damage. I am not concerned with salvaging the camera though.
I thought there might be a lever or something that can be released allowing the carriage to lift up and open, I've been jiggling stuff but it seems so tight and doesn't want to budge.
