Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description, " my bosch dishwasher is not filling up with water. Where is the inlet filter? "... and to answer your question, the issue is likely with the inlet/water valve.

**To remedy this you will need to replace the valve, not surprising for Bosch unfortunately**

This is what to look for..i.e.

my bosch dishwasher is not - e601791.jpg

As long as your model number is indeed SHU8805 series, this info below will be accurate.

Original part is # 425458. It usually retails for about $20 - $30USD at places such as "searspartsdirect.com" "repairclinic.com" to name a couple.

**Before attempting to repair the unit please turn off the power and the water supply to the dishwasher...safety first**

If you remove the lower kick plate/toe panel, you will see the inlet valve to your left...

i.e.

Replacing it or to check for debris in the filter/screen at the inlet is pretty straight forward. Here`s how...

1) undo the water line. ( here you can visually inspect the screen in the valve...if nothing noted, you'll likely need to replace it as follows )

2) Remove the two #20 torx screws fastening it in place.156e176.jpg

3) the feed tube to the machine at the back of the valve and swmy bosch dishwasher is not - 5937279.jpgthe new one.

and

Once the new one is in you should be good to go.

Let me know if you need any further assistance, otherwise good luck.

Thanks for visiting FixYa.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

SOURCE: I have a Bosch Exxcel

many bosch have a fill hose with the inlet valve actually on the bit that screws on the tap - ie remote from the machine. this valve also has a small tube connected which gives a signal of overfill and shuts off the valve. to reset the valve, turn off water and loosen the water connection so that pressure is released.
then try the machine. if this fixes it but fault reoccurs, then you have an overfill condition

SOURCE: My bosch dishwasher does not fill with water (although it drains)

most bosch have the inlet valve at the end of the fill pipe and it has an anti-flood device.
try turning off the water, take off the fill pipe then reconnect it and see if this works.
taking off the fill pipe resets the anti-flood device

SOURCE: Bosch SHU 4000 series dishwasher; Water keeps on filling

Follow-up: I was able to fix the problem on Bosch model # SHU 4002UC. Purchased water inlet valve (part number 425458) from Sears Parts Center. I required the Sears unit number from the original invoice as Sears computer system apparently cannot identify the Bosch model number. The valve is as described by meyerjr above; however it is located at the bottom front of the machine so could be replaced (not so easily) without removing the machine. Cost of part was $30.50 Cdn including tax.

SOURCE: Bosch dishwasher is leaking fresh water from water inlet assembly

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If you have nuisance water leaks around the base of your dishwasher, you may be using a detergent that is causing too much suds. Cut back on the amount of detergent you use, and see if that makes a difference.

Water that spills through the door vent is usually caused by improperly loading dishes. Leaks from the door itself may be caused by a faulty door gasket or door tightness adjustment. you should check the main tub seal, the door latch, the door gasket, the water-inlet valve, and the fill and drain hoses.

Also make sure the dishwasher is sitting level (you can adjust the front feet up or down, and many units have some type of levelers at the rear).

Water under the dishwasher may be originating from a leaky hose or loose hose connection. Remove the lower front panel, and check the hoses. The pump seal may be defective, too; replacing this is a job for an appliance repairperson.

An older dishwasher may corrode at the bottom, but this is fairly uncommon. If this is the case with your dishwasher, it's time for a new one.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

SOURCE: dishwasher will not fill, water supply checked OK,

Check the float switch. Sometimes you can jiggle it around to get it working. Also check the leads going to the water inlet to see if you have power unit must be started to check this. If you have power to the valve it has failed if not check that float switch for continuity. One of the leads from the water inlet goes to the float switch.

Bosch dishwasher doesn't work. water not coming

Hi Gilgol, The link below is a Bosh Dishwasher list of error codes, I believe your error code is E3....CHEERS..
http://removeandreplace.com/2015/10/09/bosch-dishwasher-error-codes-how-to-clear-what-to-check/
Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E3
Fault Condition: Not filling with water
Repair or Check: If the water supply cut-off valve on the dishwasher is completely open but the dishwasher will not fill with water then shut off the water supply and unplug the dishwasher. Remove the water fill line and check to see if the water inlet screen valve is plugged up. If so then replace the water valve. Cleaning the screen can make the issue worse so always replace if the screen is clogged. The valve can get stuck open from gunk and therefore flood or overfill.

Bosch SHX46AO60C/30 won't fill with water. Have check water under sink - it is on. Motor will run, but no water. Have tried all cycles.

Hi

When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.
