follow this hope it helps you

1 unplug the power n usb cord
2 keep the headprint inside the craddle
3 try to move the headprint into full right-corner(headprint
cleaningside)by moving-left the craddle belt until u heard
some "snapp" sound
4 plug the powercord again5 if u heard "cleaning progress" then u r printer going to respond
5 try to print 'printer test page' or 'nozzle check'
6 if it succeed, try to print some 5-10 pages continously

Want to know the meaning of service error 5200 on

turn off printer and unplug power cord and usb or parallel/usb cables .
wait for 15minutes and connect all cables back on then turn power on.
it should work if it does not work then seems you have problem with
head/logic board so that needs to be replaced.
if thats case better to see printer Tech.

My Canon PIXMA iP4000 stopped working with the following messages; (1) error no. 5200 a problem has occured with the printer mechanism (2) cannot print properly because of print head overheating (3)...

first of all the error message is correct when it said that the print head is overheating, this may be cause or triggered by a full waste ink.
