This might be caused due to dust setting on the lens of the sensor, which is used to read the disc. You could easily clean the lens by opening up the unit and using a small amount of rubbing alcohol.
Another problem which some users seems to face, is that the spinner which is at the center of the DVD tray, moves down after using the player for a while. This causes the distance between the disc and sensor to change. This might result in erroneous reads. A possible solutions would be to adjust the position of the spinner by moving it up (or down) a bit. Do this temporarily and if it works, use super glue to make sure that the spinner does not move about.

The problem is with the disc players laser tracking system. You may still be able to repair it by taking it apart and doing a though clean of the laser and the disc transport system. This requires that you have the proper tools and work space to open up the television and take out the disc player transport and work on it.If this seem over your head as far as working on it . Try to find a school in your area that is teaching television repair and other products. Find out if they allow people to bring in their televisions for repair at the cost of parts only.If they do then allow them to work on you dvd player and hopefully, they can find the problem and repair it for you at low cost. If you cannot get the school to help you, maybe one of the teachers or students can help you with your problem. I hope this helps you with your problem.

SOURCE: my dvd player is stuck
Hi, For some reason the disk will not play. You push the eject button over and over again, but the disk slot will not open. Here's one solution...
* 1 Turn off the DVD player. Wait a few minutes, turn the DVD player back on, and
then press the "eject" button. If this does not work, turn it off and unplug
the DVD player...while you keep pushing EJECT button plug the DVD and turn it on (your hand still on the eject..) is should come out..
* 2 ..if it does not eject , unplug the DVD player again, Remove the screws off DVD on the sides and take off the DVD casing.
* 3 Look for the DVD holder inside the DVD player. This device holds the DVD in
place while the DVD player reads the disk.
* 4 Push the stuck DVD disk toward the front of the DVD player until the DVD
ejects. Remember the DVD player is not on and some force ( gentle ! ) must be applied.
* 5 While it is open, plug it on and place a DVD disc just to see if mechanism works properly..
* 6 Replace the casing and the screws. Plug the player in and turn it on. Put
another DVD in to test whether the player is finally working ..
Hope this helps!..
